Destroyed after the historic tornado
Due to the impact of storm No. 10, Ninh Binh province had heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms, especially on the morning of September 29, unusual tornadoes appeared in the communes of Hai Thinh, Hai Anh, Quy Nhat, Hong Phong, Chat Binh, Gia Hung, Khanh Nhac... killing 9 people and injuring 50 people; damaging more than 1,200 houses; 12 medical facilities and schools were affected. There were also 202 electric poles broken; more than 3,100 hectares of crops and trees were affected; nearly 160 hectares of people's aquaculture were flooded; over 1,500 livestock and poultry died.
In Quy Nhat commune, Ninh Binh province, the heaviest damage to people and property was recorded. The tornado suddenly swept through the commune on the morning of September 29, killing 4 people and injuring many others, dozens of houses collapsed and were devastated.
Recalling the moment the tornado hit, Mr. Tran Van Ha (residing in village 10, Quy Nhat commune) said that at that time it was dark, he only heard the wind howling for a very long time, then the whole solid steel-roofed house shook, the tornado knocked down the entire wooden door, luckily everyone was safe.
"I had not yet had time to recover when I heard the people shouting, I ran out to see and saw many houses collapsed. Ms. Tran Thi Rang's level 4 house right next to mine completely collapsed, causing Ms. Rang to die" - Mr. Ha recounted.
Not far from Mrs. Rang's house, the house of Mr. Nguyen Van Khanh and Trinh Thi Soi was also completely collapsed when the tornado passed. Mr. Khanh died while his wife was seriously injured and suffered a broken leg and rib.
Joining hands to rebuild shelters for people
To help people overcome the consequences, rebuild collapsed houses, and soon stabilize their lives, on October 2, the Ministry of Public Security coordinated with Ninh Binh province to start rebuilding 24 houses for households that were completely collapsed.
Major General Nguyen Hong Nguyen - Deputy Chief of the Office of the Ministry of Public Security said that in the face of the damage caused by storm No. 10, the Ministry of Public Security has decided to support funding from contributions from officers and soldiers in the entire force to build 24 solid houses for people in Ninh Binh province.
"The People's Public Security force will deploy support to build houses for people in the fastest spirit. Ninh Binh Provincial Police will act as the core, coordinating with units of the Ministry of Public Security and local departments and branches, committed to trying to complete within 2 weeks to hand over all 24 houses, helping people soon have stable housing, especially for cases with especially difficult circumstances" - Major General Nguyen Hong Nguyen emphasized.
Mr. Dang Xuan Phong - Secretary of the Ninh Binh Provincial Party Committee said that the rapid implementation of timely support to overcome the consequences of natural disasters and floods by the police force and Party committees and authorities at all levels demonstrates the tradition of mutual love and support and adds motivation for people to firmly believe in the policies of the Party and State, feel secure in "residing and settling down", sticking together and building their homeland to become more and more stable and developed.
"The houses built with the support of police officers and soldiers will be safe and secure shelters for households to continue to work, produce, stabilize their lives, and contribute to the socio-economic development of the locality" - Ninh Binh Provincial Party Secretary Dang Xuan Phong affirmed.
Millions of arms turn to compatriots affected by storms and floods
Consecutive storms No. 8, 9, 10 and floods caused by the storm have killed 19 people and many people are missing. Many houses and production and business establishments had their roofs blown off and suffered heavy damage. People across the northern and central mountainous provinces are struggling to cope with floods and heavy losses in human lives and property due to floods and thunderstorms.
