According to people's reflection, during rush hour, traffic jams often occur at Ma Vong intersection in Nha Trang.
When lowering the barrier waiting for the train to pass, many cars - especially 16 to 54 seats - often stop right at the intersection. Even cars enter the opposite lane to wait for the train, causing chaos in traffic.
The Traffic Police Department of Khanh Hoa Provincial Police said it has assigned officers to command and control daily traffic in this area.
At the same time, the unit also increased patrols and controls to detect and strictly handle acts of stopping vehicles in violation of regulations that cause congestion.
Ma Vong intersection is the same level of intersection as Nha Trang Railway Station. Every day, there is a large concentration of vehicles from Thai Nguyen, Thong Nhat, and Yersin routes pouring into Le Hong Phong Street.
The large traffic volume, combined with waiting for trains to pass, causes frequent traffic congestion, especially during rush hours.
Faced with this situation, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee has agreed to include the Ma Vong intersection overpass project in the key public investment portfolio from May 2025, with a total estimated investment of 390 billion VND.
The project will build a two-way bridge across the railway, connecting routes from Thai Nguyen, Thong Nhat, Yersin to Le Hong Phong Street and vice versa.
Below, traffic will be organized according to the roundabout; on Le Hong Phong Street, an internal road will be arranged for vehicles to get on the bridge and enter the residential area.
According to the plan, after 2030, Nha Trang station will be relocated from the inner city, the existing railway will be dismantled to form a walking street, combining services and public space.
However, due to the lack of consensus in the relocation plan, the investment in Ma Vong overpass is considered necessary and in line with the plan to solve current traffic problems.
