The Ministry of Construction has just officially issued Decision No. 1260 announcing an emergency situation for natural disasters to promptly overcome incidents and damage to traffic infrastructure on National Highway 279 and National Highway 32 in Muong Than commune, Lai Chau province.
Accordingly, due to the impact of heavy rains, flash floods and landslides in Lai Chau, serious damage has been left on key national highways.
The heavily affected sections of the Northern mountainous provinces traffic connection project (managed by Project Management Board 2) include: National Highway 279: Section Km 156+700 - Km 156+800 and section Km 159+200 - Km 159+300; National Highway 32: Section Km 354+150 – Km 354+650.
To urgently handle the incident, the Ministry of Construction assigned the Economic - Construction Investment Management Department to coordinate with the Planning - Finance Department to conduct a review and accurate assessment of the extent of damage.
From there, issue an Emergency Construction Order and propose a plan to allocate capital to implement repairs, ensuring compliance with the provisions of law.
In addition, Project Management Board 2 is fully responsible to the Minister of Construction and the law for the accuracy of the damage report data.
The Department of Transport and Traffic Safety will directly urge and direct the remediation work at the scene to soon restore smooth and safe traffic for people.
The Ministry of Construction also directed that, after completing emergency recovery work, units will report to the Ministry of Construction to consider announcing the end of the natural disaster situation according to regulations.
