Dak Nong has just proposed that the Central Government remove difficulties for wind power projects in the area. According to statistics, the whole province has 6 wind power plant projects (NMDG) that have been approved and implemented, with a total capacity of 430MW and an investment capital of more than 14,800 billion VND.
However, only one project, Dak Hoa Electricity Company (capacity 50MW) has been completed and put into commercial operation, contributing about 162.3 million kWh of electricity per year.
Other projects are still facing difficulties and obstacles. One of the major obstacles for wind power projects is the overlapping of planning between energy projects and mineral planning areas.
Wind power projects are included in the power plan approved by the Government in June 2020. At the same time, these projects are also in the bauxite planning area for the period 2021 - 2025 approved by the Government in July 2023.
Therefore, Dak Nong province has repeatedly petitioned the Government to remove them.
Accordingly, Dak Nong proposed to allow the province to complete procedures on investment, construction, and land for 3 NMDG projects Dak N'Drung 1, Dak N'Drung 2 and Dak N'Drung 3. For the Nam Binh 1 energy efficiency project that has been completed but not yet operated, Dak Nong proposed to allow an extension of the project's operation time to facilitate investors in completing commercial power generation procedures.
Dak Nong also proposed that the Central Government allow the NMDG Asia Dak Song 1 project to complete land procedures and related procedures to implement investment.
Statistics from Dak Nong province show that wind power projects occupy about 66.2 hectares of land.
This area accounts for about 0.13% of the planned area of Tuy Duc and Dak Song bauxite mines (47,200ha).
The construction of wind power towers only accounts for a small part of the area and does not significantly affect bauxite reserves.
If all 6 wind power projects are put into operation, it will contribute about 1.29 billion kWh of electricity and the budget revenue will be about 200 billion VND per year.
