The road connecting Dong Nai - Ho Chi Minh City is overloaded
The People's Committee of Dong Nai province said that the current transportation system connecting Dong Nai province and Ho Chi Minh City is mainly based on 3 transportation methods: road, rail, and waterway, of which road transport is the main method of transportation. However, with the increasing density of vehicles, existing road routes have been overloaded, causing continuous congestion such as: National Highway 1A, National Highway 51...
According to the Provincial People's Committee, although in the past, the routes connecting the two provinces have been directed to be implemented such as the Ring Road, Expressway, regional linkage, etc., they have not yet met the expectations and needs of connecting transportation, especially when Long Thanh airport was officially put into operation. The need to connect Tan Son Nhat airport and Long Thanh airport is very urgent to ensure parallel operation between the two airports, when Long Thanh airport will receive a part of the passengers and goods from Tan Son Nhat airport when it comes into operation.
Mr. Ho Van Ha - Vice Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee - said that the early implementation of connecting transport projects such as metro, high-speed railway, inter-regional bridge... is necessary to meet travel needs, reduce travel time and shorten the distance from Tan Son Nhat airport to Long Thanh airport.
Deploying a series of bridge, expressway, and belt projects
Dong Nai provincial leaders believe that Long Thanh airport is not only an international gateway, but also a regional connection center, spreading development to the entire Southeast region. To maximize the efficiency of this project, the synchronization of the traffic infrastructure connection system between Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai is especially important.
Currently, to serve the connection to Long Thanh airport, Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City have coordinated with the Ministry of Construction to implement projects such as: Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway, Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway, Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3, Ring Road 4, Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh Expressway expansion, Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway, Dau Giay - Tan Phu Expressway, Tan Phu - Bao Loc Expressway.
When Long Thanh airport is put into operation, it is necessary to invest in additional projects such as Cat Lai bridge, Phu My 2 bridge, Long Hung bridge (Dong Nai bridge 2) and strategic railway lines such as extending the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien metro line to the new administrative center of Dong Nai province and then to Long Thanh airport...
These projects not only serve traffic but also create an axis for urban, industrial, logistics and high-quality service development, forming a seamless and sustainable development space between the two major economic centers of the region.
On October 21, leaders of Dong Nai province and leaders of Ho Chi Minh City met to discuss the connection of transport infrastructure between Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City.
At the conference, Dong Nai province proposed two key contents for Ho Chi Minh City. First, unify the division of tasks of each locality in implementing each project; speed up the progress of planned projects and agree on investment policies, ensure completion on schedule, promote the earliest exploitation efficiency, especially projects directly connecting to Long Thanh airport.
Second, research and add new connecting routes, in line with the actual situation of the two localities after the arrangement of administrative units, meeting the requirements of regional development in the new period, ensuring flexibility, practicality and long-term vision. Optimizing the advantages of Long Thanh airport and shaping a comprehensive and sustainable economic space; linking to become a new growth driver for the Southeast region and the whole country.
According to the report of the People's Committee of Dong Nai province on traffic connection between Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City, for the road transport system, there are 8 projects that have been agreed to be invested by the two localities, including: Cat Lai bridge, Long Hung bridge (Dong Nai 2), Phu My 2 bridge, Hieu Liem 2 bridge, Thanh Hoi 2 bridge, Tan Hien bridge, Tan An bridge, Xom La 2 bridge.
