2km road damaged, cracked after nearly 2 years of use

TRẦN TUẤN |

The project to upgrade and expand the Cam Thach - Thach Hoi road is invested by the People's Committee of Cam Xuyen district (Ha Tinh), and will be implemented from 2023. Currently, some sections have appeared cracks, forcing contractors to scrap and re-pave the road surface.

Concerns about quality

According to the reflection of some people in Boc Nguyen village (Cam Thach commune, Cam Xuyen district), DH 121 road through Boc Nguyen village was constructed in 2023, but currently at some locations through this village, there are cracks and cracks that have just been scraped and re-paved by the construction unit.

Mr. Phan Van Anh - Deputy Director of the Cam Xuyen District Construction Investment Project Management Board - informed that the Cam Thach - Thach Hoi Road Upgrade and Expansion Investment Project was approved by the Cam Xuyen District People's Committee in November 2022, and will be implemented from 2023.

The project is nearly 13km long with the starting point intersecting with National Highway 8C in Cam Thach commune, the end point connecting with HL107 road in Thach Hoi commune. The project has a total investment of nearly 125 billion VND, invested by the People's Committee of Cam Xuyen district.

According to Mr. Anh, the entire route of the project is being constructed by many contractors. Of which, the section with a length of more than 2km constructed by Hai Dang Construction and Trading Services Company Limited has been completed since July 2023. Many other sections are affected by site clearance and the impact of the North-South Expressway Project, so construction is delayed. In general, the entire route has only been completed for a few days.

Because heavy trucks are traveling?

According to Mr. Anh, the construction was completed early, so the section of more than 2km constructed by Hai Dang Company was cracked due to many heavy trucks carrying construction materials for the North-South Expressway. Through inspection, more than 10 locations were discovered with cracks and cracks, so the Management Board of the Cam Xuyen District Construction Investment Project has requested the contractor to scrap and re-pave. The re-paving is now done.

"In the near future, we will conduct an inspection and evaluate whether the repair and re-paving work has met the quality standards or not," said Mr. Anh.

Explaining why there are only more than 2km sections in Boc Nguyen village that have cracks and cracks in many locations and have to be re-paved, Mr. Anh said that it is possible that because this section was previously paved, there was more heavy-duty vehicles passing through, while other sections were only completed by the end of 2024 when the expressway project was basically completed, less vehicles were circulating, so they have not appeared damaged or degraded.

Mr. Truong Xuan Binh - Director of Hai Dang Construction and Trading Services Company Limited - said that the package under the Investment Project to build the project to upgrade and expand the Cam Thach - Thach Hoi road, constructed by Hai Dang Company with a length of more than 2km, has been completed since July 2023.

Immediately after completion, many heavy trucks carrying construction materials for the North - South expressway along with a number of trucks carrying sand at a sand gathering site in Cam Thach commune passed through, causing the project to be affected, degraded, cracked, and cracked.

The company has repeatedly directly recorded images of heavy trucks traveling through the road that the construction unit was constructing, and reported to the Cam Xuyen District Police. However, a few days ago, heavy trucks were still discovered traveling, causing great concern for the unit.

According to Mr. Binh, while the project has not been accepted and handed over, we hope that the authorities will prevent heavy trucks from circulating, damaging the road, causing damage and costing the contractor in repairing and repairing it.
