On October 2, the Traffic Safety Committee of Thua Thien Hue province said that it had sent a report to the Provincial People's Committee on the results of the on-site inspection of railway traffic safety work through Phu Loc district.
Accordingly, the North-South railway line passing through Thua Thien Hue province is 111.1km long, managed by Binh Tri Thien Railway Joint Stock Company from Km655+100 - Km756+200 (101.1km long); Da Nang - Quang Nam Railway Joint Stock Company manages from Km756+200 - Km766+200 (10km long), passing through 11 communes, 18 wards and 3 towns of 2 districts, 2 towns and Hue city.
The railway section passing through Phu Loc district and especially the Thua Luu - Lang Co section is a mountainous area, the railway surface has many small radius curves, in opposite directions, consecutively. At Lang Co station, there are old switchboards, large switchboards, short switchboard lengths (N10 switchboard Lang Co station).
Recently, from July 28, 2024 to September 28, 2024, there have been many repeated railway traffic incidents and train derailments in the Thua Luu - Lang Co section.
The train derailments at the Thua Luu - Lang Co section occurred on July 28, August 7, August 31, September 15, and two on September 28. Therefore, there must have been a specific cause for the above incidents.
According to the Traffic Safety Committee of Thua Thien Hue province, although it has not caused serious consequences, it is a warning that cannot be taken lightly because it is not known what the next consequences will be if the incident continues to occur.
Therefore, the Traffic Safety Committee respectfully requests the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province to send a document to the Ministry of Transport and the Railway Department to pay attention and consider directing relevant units to promptly resolve the above issue to ensure railway traffic safety.
