As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, at the Trai Cau Iron mine waste dump (Trai Cau commune, Thai Nguyen), many cracks and water have appeared through the mounds, posing a potential risk of landslides threatening the safety of the residential area below.
Immediately after the reflection, the provincial authorities promptly inspected, evaluated and implemented measures to ensure safety for the landfill area.

The provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment will coordinate with the People's Committee of Trai Cau commune and Thai Nguyen Iron and Steel Corporation (TISCO) to develop a plan to handle, prevent incidents and ensure safety of the mine area.
According to Mr. Pham Binh Cong - Deputy Director of the Thai Nguyen Department of Agriculture and Environment, after receiving instructions from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the Department directly inspected and surveyed the scene to specifically assess the status of waste dumps and locations with cracks.
Based on the inspection results, the Department has requested TISCO to closely coordinate with local authorities, urgently developing a detailed plan to ensure absolute safety for people in village 6.
On the business side, Mr. Ha Tuan Hung - Deputy General Director of TISCO affirmed that immediately after receiving the information, the unit proactively coordinated with the commune government to conduct a specific survey of the scene.
The Corporation has mobilized human resources, machinery, and means to dig ditches to prevent cracks from developing, reinforce the moong banks, and cut floors, unload waste dumps to stabilize the area, minimizing the risk of landslides.

According to Mr. Hung, the Trai Cau Iron mine has mobilized 2 excavators and 2 transport vehicles to carry out the excavation, creating a dike ditch to prevent landslides, and transporting about 2,000m3 of waste rock and soil out of the danger zone.
By the end of October 22, the locations with cracks had been basically repaired, the amount of waste soil and rock was transported, reinforced and the landfill was brought to a safe state, no longer at risk of landslides.
During the construction process, the unit maintained a continuous monitoring force, recording changes in cracks, and at the same time arranged officers to monitor and guard to ensure absolute safety for people and equipment.
According to the plan, the repair work at the 49th floor landfill will be completed before November 5, 2025 and the Company will have a detailed report to the authorities.
