On November 29, Rach Gia City People's Committee held a ceremony to announce Resolution No. 1247/NQ-UBTVQH15 dated October 24, 2024 of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units of Kien Giang province for the period 2023 - 2025.
According to this Resolution, Rach Gia City will merge the entire natural area and population of Vinh Bao Ward into Vinh Thanh Van Ward. After the merger, Vinh Thanh Van Ward has a natural area of 1.99 km2 and a population of 27,429 people.
Thus, after the arrangement, Rach Gia City has 11 commune-level administrative units, including 10 wards and 1 commune. Kien Giang Province has 15 district-level administrative units, including 12 districts and 3 cities; 143 commune-level administrative units, including 116 communes, 17 wards and 10 towns.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee Lam Minh Thanh emphasized: the arrangement, consolidation and reorganization of district and commune-level administrative units that do not meet the prescribed standards is a major policy of the Party and State to meet practical requirements, contributing to innovation and rearrangement of the political system's organizational apparatus to be streamlined and operate effectively and efficiently.
Create favorable conditions for socio-economic development, improve the material and spiritual life of the people, and at the same time overcome limitations, obstacles and shortcomings. Strengthen decentralization, delegation of power, and grant autonomy and self-responsibility to local authorities.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Lam Minh Thanh requested departments, branches and sectors to strengthen coordination with Rach Gia City to continue promoting information and propaganda work on Resolution No. 1247; strengthen propaganda and implement the conversion of documents for individuals and organizations. Note that no fees or charges will be collected when converting due to changes in administrative boundaries.
Continue to review, advise on the arrangement, management and use of headquarters and public assets of agencies and units after the rearrangement in accordance with regulations; ensure savings, efficiency and avoid waste. Take measures to mobilize resources and increase investment in agencies and units after the rearrangement in accordance with planning and actual conditions.
In addition, arrange and consolidate the organizational structure of the newly formed wards after the rearrangement. Rename neighborhoods due to overlapping names according to regulations; resolve policies and regimes for redundant cadres, civil servants, public employees, and part-time workers due to the rearrangement of administrative units...
At the ceremony, the representative of the Rach Gia City Party Committee's Organizing Committee announced Decision No. 2970-QD/TU of the Rach Gia City Party Committee's Standing Committee to establish the Vinh Thanh Van Ward Party Committee, including 23 Party cells and 1,254 Party members.
