According to Kien Giang Provincial Police, in 2024, the Provincial Police completed and exceeded 71/77 targets assigned by the Ministry of Public Security in 2024.
1,049 cases of social order crimes were detected, down 81 cases compared to the same period in 2023. The two localities with the highest number of cases were Rach Gia (234 cases) and Phu Quoc (184 cases). 151 cases of crimes and violations of the law on economic management order and corruption were detected, with 140 subjects (74 more cases).
Environmental crimes and violations of law were detected and handled in 111 cases with 118 subjects (79 cases less). Drug crimes were detected in 332 cases with 454 subjects buying, selling, storing, transporting, and organizing illegal use of drugs (13 cases more).
High-tech crimes include the use of computers, telecommunications networks, and electronic devices with many sophisticated methods and tricks to commit acts of fraud, property appropriation, and extortion; and organize online gambling.
The provincial police have deployed plans to focus on checking and destroying criminal gangs and social evils in the province. 952 social order crimes have been investigated and solved (exceeding the target by 15.75%); 223/230 very serious and extremely serious cases have been investigated and solved (exceeding 6.95%). In particular, forces have been mobilized to focus on investigating and solving many cases of public concern. 520 locations have been eliminated, 2,471 social evils (cockfighting, gambling, lottery, prostitution, etc.) have been handled.
The destruction of many criminal gangs and serious cases has been highly appreciated by the people, especially the determination in investigating and handling crimes related to land and violations in land management that are the cause of crime in Phu Quoc City.
At the same time, the AI Camera system has been deployed to monitor security and order in Phu Quoc and proactively built and proposed the Ministry of Public Security to recognize the initiative "Regional Police Population Management Diagram". Up to now, Kien Giang is the only province in the country to implement the "Vessel Identification" model, reaching a rate of over 97%.
With outstanding achievements in 2024, Kien Giang Provincial Police was honored to receive the Emulation Flag from the Government at the 80th National Police Conference.
According to Colonel Nguyen Van Han - Director of the Provincial Police, in the coming time, the provincial police will implement solutions to ensure social security, especially for the unemployed and jobless; review, detect and promptly resolve conflicts among the people to prevent crimes from arising.
Arrange, assign, guide, and promote the role of forces participating in protecting security and order at the grassroots level in coordination with the police force to grasp the situation, ensure security and order, and prevent and combat crimes.
Synchronously deploy measures, proactively forecast and identify emerging crime trends and promote the implementation of effective prevention and combat plans and strategies, not allowing complex crime activities to cause public outrage.
The special task force inspects and handles violations of the law on land, forestry and construction in Phu Quoc City. Review, arrange and consolidate the leadership and command team, especially the team directly involved in the fight against crime.
Strengthen, develop and effectively use forces participating in protecting security and order at the grassroots level, contributing to the good work of grasping the situation and resolving incidents right at the grassroots level, not allowing complications to arise.
