Solid foundation for national development goals
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Minh Son - Director of the Academy of Journalism and Propaganda, in Ho Chi Minh's ideology system, independence, self-reliance, self-strengthening, and self-improvement are a core, consistent and meaningful principle of leading the Vietnamese revolution in general, and in foreign affairs activities in particular. He always upheld the spirit of independence, self-reliance, self-improvement, and self-improvement in foreign affairs activities with the motto "what is immutable, respond to all changes".
Ho Chi Minh's ideological legacy also leaves us lessons about combining national strength with the strength of the times in foreign affairs activities.
President Ho Chi Minh always associated the Vietnamese revolution with the world revolution, considering combining national strength with the strength of the times as a strategic principle in the struggle to liberate and develop the country.
He especially attached importance to building friendly and international cooperative relations; affirmed that Vietnam pursues a peaceful and friendly foreign policy, and is ready to cooperate with all countries on the basis of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit.
President Ho Chi Minh's diplomatic ideology has become a guiding principle for Vietnam's independent, self-reliant, peaceful, cooperative and developmental foreign policy; contributing to enhancing Vietnam's position, prestige and role in the international arena, while creating a solid foundation for the goal of sustainable national development in the new era.
Enhancing national position
At the 14th Party Congress, the Party's foreign policy continued to inherit the views of previous Congresses and had appropriate adjustments and supplements; especially the correct and creative application of Ho Chi Minh's ideology on foreign affairs in the new conditions. The Congress Resolution stated: "... strengthening national defense and security and promoting foreign affairs and international integration is key and regular".
According to the Editorial Board of the 14th Party Congress Documents, the addition of foreign affairs and international integration to the group of key and regular tasks not only changes thinking but is also a strategic lever, making foreign affairs and international integration a core tool of national security and sustainable development. This innovation affirms Vietnam's determination to be proactive, flexible and comprehensive in applying soft power and enhancing its position in the international arena.
Dr. Le Trung Kien - Institute of Ho Chi Minh and Party Leaders (Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics) - shared that President Ho Chi Minh's ideological legacy left behind invaluable lessons for posterity, including lessons on upholding the spirit of independence, self-reliance, self-strengthening in foreign affairs activities with the motto "if immutable, respond to all changes". This is the foundation and guiding principle for the current context. In which, "Independence - Freedom - Happiness" of the nation, of the people is the "immutable", immutable.
The Resolution of the 14th Party Congress also affirmed the consistent implementation of the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, self-strengthening, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, multilateralization, diversification of foreign relations, being a responsible member of the international community; developing foreign affairs in the new era, commensurate with the historical and cultural stature and position of the country.
Applying Ho Chi Minh's ideology at this time is to promote the art and viewpoints of "diplomacy with public interests", "praying for common ground, preserving differences", " adding friends, reducing enemies", "four seas, four brothers", multilateralization, diversification in international relations. Vietnam needs to promote its role in multilateral organizations (United Nations, ASEAN...). Becoming an important link in the global supply chain and regional security mechanisms helps us enhance our national position, "geopolitical position", to international position, thereby protecting national interests from an early and distant stages" - Dr. Le Trung Kien analyzed.
