On July 6, information from Van Ban Commune Police (Lao Cai province) said that prolonged heavy rain for many days caused soil and rocks from the positive taluy to landslide on National Highway 279, passing through Lang Mac village, causing unsafety for vehicles traveling.
Accordingly, the landslide point occurred at Km117+400 on National Highway 279. Soil and rocks from the positive taluy overflowed into the road surface, posing a risk of traffic unsafety, especially in conditions where rain continues.
Immediately after discovering the incident, Van Ban Commune Police coordinated with the Traffic Police force to be present at the scene, stretched ropes, planted warning signs, cordoned off dangerous areas and organized traffic diversion, ensuring safety for people and vehicles traveling.

At the same time, functional forces requested the road construction unit to urgently mobilize manpower and machinery to handle the landslide point, soon overcome the incident and ensure smooth traffic.
Van Ban Commune Police recommends that people when traveling through the Km117+400 area on National Highway 279 need to reduce speed, pay attention to observation, comply with the instructions of functional forces and the sign system at the scene; do not stop or park vehicles in landslide-prone areas to ensure safety.
