Most hydropower reservoirs across the country continue to be lower than the normal water level, while water inflow into reservoirs in many areas remains low.

According to data from Vietnam Electricity Group, at 12:00 on June 5, in the Northwest region, Son La Lake was at an elevation of 194.48m, 20.52m lower than the normal water level; Hoa Binh Lake was at 99.33m, 17.67m lower. Lai Chau Lake reached 290.12m, nearly 5m lower than the normal water level.

Notably, Hoa Binh Hydropower is generating electricity with a discharge flow through the plant of 2,333m3/s, the highest among hydropower reservoirs recorded. Meanwhile, the water flow to the reservoir is only 40m3/s.

In the North Central region, Trung Son, Ban Ve, Khe Bo and Quang Tri reservoirs all do not operate spillways. The water flow to the reservoirs is generally low, fluctuating from 0.26-112m3/s.

In the South Central Coast, most reservoirs such as A Vuong, Song Bung 2, and Song Tranh 2 do not generate water discharge. Some reservoirs are generating electricity with small flow rates such as Song Ba Ha 120m3/s, Song Hinh 15.22m3/s and Song Bung 4 49m3/s.

The Central Highlands region recorded Ialy Lake discharging through the plant 221m3/s, Se San 3 Lake discharging 222m3/s. An Khe Lake is one of the few lakes discharging through the spillway with a flow rate of 8m3/s, opening 1 surface discharge gate. Buon Kuop Lake also discharges through the spillway 15.57m3/s and opens 1 deep discharge gate.

In the Southeast region, Tri An Lake has a water level of 55.62m, 6.38m lower than the normal water level. The lake is generating electricity with a discharge through the plant of 375m3/s, while the water inflow to the lake reaches 250m3/s.

According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on June 5, the Northern region will have rain at times in the morning, and localized hot sunshine during the day with the highest temperature in the day in some places above 35 degrees Celsius.

The area from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang city and the east of Quang Ngai and Gia Lai provinces will have hot and intense heat with the highest temperature commonly 36 - 38 degrees C, in some places above 38 degrees C.

The Southern region has showers and thunderstorms in some places, especially in the late afternoon and evening there are scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain in some places.
