Recently, the Thai Nguyen - Cho Moi road section through Dong Luong village has often encountered flooding during heavy rains. Not to mention, some locations near the edge of the bank have experienced landslides and subsidence. This situation makes people and vehicles involved in traffic insecure and worried every time they travel here.
According to the reporter's records in late July 2025, the road section through Dong Luong village has 2 culverts about 60 meters apart. A culvert is being congested on both sides of the road due to no ditch system along the road. From there, it will form two deep puddles on both sides of the culvert head.
On the road axis, there is no straight ditch system on one side, and there is a ditch on the other side but it is filled, making the ability to drain water very limited. On the route, part of the corridor has lands near the edge of the road.
Flooding and landslides near the roadbank pose a potential risk to traffic safety. Especially for vehicles participating in traffic at night. Meanwhile, this is a vital route with a large volume of traffic, connecting from the old Thai Nguyen province to the old Bac Kan province.
Regularly traveling on the Thai Nguyen - Cho Moi route, Mr. Nguyen Van Dong (Phan Dinh Phung ward, Thai Nguyen province) said that if there is heavy rain, some locations on the route will be flooded, affecting vehicles participating in traffic. This road is crowded with vehicles, the speed of movement of all vehicles is high, so it is very dangerous.
"People really hope to soon have a definitive solution to solve the flooding and landslides. Just letting this situation continue is not safe for traffic participants.
At some landslides near the roadside, people's sales signs also obstructed visibility. Not to mention, household waste is also thrown haphazardly right above the sewers, causing loss of aesthetics and affecting the environment" - Mr. Dong said.
Sharing the same concern, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Khuong - Head of Dong Luong village, Cho Moi commune - said that in recent rains, floodwaters have risen to the roads, rising quite high, causing local traffic jams. This situation occurs frequently, which greatly affects vehicles participating in traffic on the route. Authorities need to coordinate to clarify the causes to determine management responsibilities and have appropriate and timely remedial solutions.
According to Chairman of Cho Moi Commune People's Committee Tran Manh Cuong, the locality has directed specialized departments to coordinate with units to inspect the scene to clearly identify the cause of flooding on this road section. If it is the responsibility of any unit, the People's Committee of the commune will recommend that unit proactively fix it immediately to ensure a drainage system in accordance with regulations.
