According to Mr. Nguyen Van Lac - Chairman of the VASTI Association for the fourth term, the Association has the function and task of being an extension of the Ministry of Science and Technology (KHCN), contributing to the overall development of the country. During the past term, VASTI has promoted the role of a social - professional organization, coordinating with a number of members to successfully organize scientific seminars, creating conditions for intellectuals in the field of science and technology information to promote their creative potential, frankly contributing opinions on issues related to national information policies. At the same time, the Association also honestly reflects public opinion on the guidelines and policies of the Party and State in the process of innovation, socio-economic development in general and the field of science and technology information in particular. The work of gathering intellectuals and implementing the Party's directives and resolutions has also received attention.
The Association's activities in recent times have closely followed prominent issues such as the 4.0 Industrial Revolution and digital transformation. The Association also made many efforts in scientific research and press management.
However, the work of developing members and gathering intellectuals in the field of science and technology information still has some limitations. The Association's activities as a professional organization have not been really vibrant, leading to limited membership attraction.
To effectively implement the tasks in the 2025-2030 term, the Association will focus on improving capacity, innovating methods of operation, promoting propaganda about the Association's activities and developing members. The Association will also continue to strengthen the gathering and mobilization of intellectuals in the field of science and technology information, while promoting consulting, criticism and social appraisal activities to propose to the State on strategies for developing economic and scientific research information at both national and local levels.
In addition, the Association will focus on press management, ensuring that the press agencies under the Association operate in accordance with the principles, purposes and comply with legal regulations. At the same time, the Association will promote cooperation with domestic and international economic associations and associations, strengthen propaganda, disseminate the State's policies and guidelines, as well as knowledge of science and technology and environmental protection.
At the Congress, the delegates elected the Standing Committee of 11 members. Mr. Tran Van Tung - former Deputy Minister of Science and Technology - was elected as Chairman and 5 Vice Chairmen to support the management of VASTI's operations.
