The authorities are urgently implementing the North-South expressway project in the West, Gia Nghia (Lam Dong) - Chon Thanh (Dong Nai) section.
The expressway project has a total length of about 124 km, of which the section through Lam Dong province is about 23.10 km long, the section through Dong Nai province is about 101.03 km long.
The project is planned to have a scale of 6 lanes, with a design speed of 120 km/h. In the first phase, the project is invested with a scale of 4 complete expressway lanes, with a roadbed width of 24.75m. The section through Dong Xoai is 25.5m wide (expanding the median strip to arrange the lighting system). The design speed is 120 km/h.
The project will build intersections, direct roads, and underpasses to ensure convenient connectivity, minimize community disruption, and affect people's lives.
5 component projects
The Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh Expressway Project is divided into 5 component projects including: Component project 1 - Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh Expressway construction; Component project 2 and 3 - investment in the construction of service roads and overpasses; Component project 4 and 5 - compensation, support, and resettlement.
The project has been assigned a detailed plan for public investment capital from the central budget in 2025 for component projects 1, 3, 5 of this project.
The allocated capital is VND 10,536.5 billion, of which component project 1 has capital of VND 6,842 billion, component project 3 has capital of VND 951 billion, component project 5 has capital of VND 977 billion. At the same time, VND 1,766.5 billion was allocated from the central budget in the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2021-2025 for component project 5.
Currently, the authorities have started construction of the service road and overpass. At the same time, a compensation and resettlement support project and site clearance project is being implemented. The authorities have signed a BOT contract with the Vingroup - Techtra Joint Venture to implement component project 1 of the Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh Expressway. The project is expected to be put into operation in 2027.
