On June 17, a serious accident occurred on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay (HLD) highway, passing through Thu Duc City. A container truck overturned, severely damaging the median strip and causing local congestion on this important route.
According to initial information from Vietnam Expressway Engineering Services Joint Stock Company (VEC E), the unit managing the HLD route, the accident occurred at around 7am the same day. At that time, the container truck was moving on the highway in the direction from Ho Chi Minh City to Long Thanh. When reaching km3+500/PT, in Phu Huu ward, Thu Duc city, the container truck suddenly had an accident, hit the median strip of the road hard, then plunged into an empty lot on the roadside.
At the scene, both the front of the container truck and the trailer were lying overturned on the vacant land. A long section of the median strip is broken and lying scattered on the road.
Some people who witnessed the incident said that just a few minutes after the accident, a man quickly jumped out of the cabin. However, it is not yet possible to determine whether this person was the driver or the bus assistant. The identity and health status of the driver have not been officially announced.
Immediately after receiving the information, the Expressway Patrol Team promptly arrived at the scene to coordinate the handling, ensuring traffic safety and traffic flow. The accident caused a lot of traffic congestion from the highway branch to National Highway 51 and slow movement. Meanwhile, in the opposite direction from Dau Giay - Long Thanh to Ho Chi Minh City, the traffic volume is still moving stably.
Authorities are actively investigating to determine the cause of this accident, as well as calculate property damage.
