On June 19, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province said that due to the heavy damage caused by heavy rain causing flooding in rice and crops in the Summer-Autumn Festival 2025, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province has issued a plan to restore agricultural production, in order to stabilize people's livelihoods and ensure local socio-economic development targets.
Previously, from June 10 to 13, the impact of storm No. 1 caused widespread heavy rain, with common rainfall from 440 - 620mm, peaking at Thach Han up to 999mm. More than 16,300 hectares of rice in the rice processing - branching stage, nearly 7,800 hectares of crops, 993 hectares of seafood and thousands of poultry and livestock were seriously affected. The total estimated damage is more than 675 billion VND.
Immediately after the natural disaster, the province directed localities to urgently drain rice, organize inspections, count damage and provide technical instructions for recovery.
The restoration plan is built with the goal of "not leaving the fields abandoned", which requires maximum mobilization of resources, synchronous application of technical advances to restore more than 13,000 hectares of rice, support short-term seeds for areas to be replanted, ensuring harvest before September 20.
In addition, about 3,600 hectares of damaged crops will be converted to growing short-term vegetables; crop areas that can recover will be cared for to reduce damage. The province also requires early detoxification, disinfection, livestock herding and aquaculture restoration, especially 993 hectares of flooded and washed away ponds. Damaged irrigation works with about 34km of canals and 20 culverts will also be reviewed and repaired promptly to serve the production of the next crops.
To implement the plan, the province is expected to need more than 320 billion VND, of which more than 189 billion is from the support policy according to Decree 09/2025/ND-CP. Departments such as Agriculture, Finance, Science - Technology, Industry and Trade and commercial banks will join in supporting varieties, engineering, loans, as well as encouraging product production - consumption linkages.
The Provincial People's Committee requested localities to quickly reorganize production in the Summer-Autumn crop, expand the Fall-Winter crop, and promote crop conversion in accordance with the season and land conditions.
"Determined not to leave rice fields abandoned, proactively rearrange the seed and crop structure to suit actual and seasonal conditions. The heads of local Party committees and authorities are fully responsible for the results of directing production restoration in the area, affirmed Mr. Hoang Nam - Acting Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province.
