Previously, at 1:00 a.m. on May 28, a serious landslide occurred on the Rach Vop River with a length of about 70m and a width of 6m from the riverbank. The landslide caused part of the road to collapse into the river, affecting people's travel.

According to Ms. Quach Thi Thanh Binh - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Soc Trang province, on May 30, the working group of the department organized a survey of the landslide area to develop a handling plan.
In the immediate future, local authorities have put up warning signs at the landslide site to warn people when traveling through this area. The commune government will mobilize people to support the site to create an inner embankment, prevent high tides and ensure rural traffic, using temporary funding from the district budget.
Ms. Binh informed that in the long term, this area has been included in the investment portfolio to overcome landslides with reinforced concrete embankments, as part of the medium-term plan, period 2026 - 2030. The People's Council of Soc Trang province approved in Resolution 122/NQ-HDND, dated September 26, 2024 with a total cost of 525 billion VND, deployed in Long Phu, Ke Sach and Cu Lao Dung areas.
