On January 24, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters were present at the FLC High-Tech Agriculture Project in Dong Tien commune to record that the project has been abandoned for many years, with overgrown grass. Working houses and factories have all been damaged and had their roofs blown off after many storms, causing land waste.

Notably, in the area outside this project, local people in Bac Van and Trung Van villages cultivating dozens of hectares of vegetables, tubers, and fruits on sandy land are still highly effective.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tu (70 years old, residing in Bac Van village, Dong Tien commune) - said that his family cultivates on an area of 1ha including white radish, carrots, gourds, onions, sweet potatoes... using automatic irrigation technology, earning about 200 million VND per year.
I really see that the FLC High-Tech Agriculture project here has been abandoned for many years and feel sorry for the waste of land," Mr. Tu shared.

In 2018, Ha Tinh Provincial People's Committee approved the investment policy of the FLC High-Tech Agriculture Project in Thach Van commune (old) for FAM Ha Tinh Agricultural Products Import-Export Production and Trading Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as FAM Ha Tinh Company, belonging to FLC Group).
According to the investment policy approval decision, FAM Ha Tinh Company implements a high-tech agricultural project on an area of about 240ha, with a total estimated investment of 300 billion VND. Project operating time is 50 years. The goal is to organize the cultivation and production of vegetables, tubers, and fruits that meet clean, quality, safe, and nutritious standards... serving domestic and export.
The investor then renovated some areas, experimented with planting red-flesh dragon fruit varieties and some other types of trees, but it was also ineffective, abandoning land, and wasteful.

By 2021, Ha Tinh Provincial People's Committee directed functional sectors to review and advise on the revocation of this project. However, the investor requested to adjust the scale, only cultivating on an area of more than 96ha received from Mitraco Ha Tinh out of a total of more than 240ha of the project.
At one point, the investor requested to convert the project to livestock farming on a scale of 60,000 pigs/crop, but it was not approved by the local authorities. After that, the investor requested to return the project.
On January 24, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhu Ngoc - Secretary of the Party Committee of Dong Tien commune - said that the FLC High-Tech Agriculture Project in the area is still in the process of completing procedures for project recovery.
Also according to Ms. Ngoc, that project is not effective and wastes land, so the locality hopes that competent authorities will soon recover it to attract other projects to trade and service investment to bring efficiency. In case other projects cannot be attracted, they can be divided among farmers to cultivate crops to avoid waste.
