Seeking benefits for the majority of union members
Ms. Nguyen Thu Huong - an employee of a school in Nha Trang City, wants to learn about the policies related to her job but does not know who to contact. If she contacts law offices, she is worried that the cost will not be enough.
Like Ms. Huong, many union members and workers in Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa previously shared the same sentiment. Through meetings and dialogues with union members, Mr. Ngo Anh Duyet - Chairman of Nha Trang City Labor Federation understood this "lack" of union members, and at the same time discussed with the Standing Committee to proactively connect with Khanh Hoa Province Lawyers Association to find benefits for union members.
After the agreement period, in August 2024, Nha Trang City Labor Federation and Khanh Hoa Provincial Bar Association Legal Consulting Center signed a welfare program for the period 2024-2029 with the content of establishing a free legal consulting team to support Nha Trang union members, coordinate propaganda to raise awareness and protect the legitimate rights of union members.
In June 2024, the Nha Trang City Labor Federation successfully negotiated a union welfare agreement with Ba Ho Company Limited. With preferential terms for Nha Trang union members with a union membership card or a certificate from the Union, union members will receive a 30% discount on sightseeing tickets, overnight stays, and bungalow stays; a 25% discount on day-time stays and a 20% discount on camping tents, along with many other incentives... Recently, the Nha Trang City Labor Federation also signed a health care welfare program with a preferential medical examination package for 11,000 union members.
According to the leader of Nha Trang City Labor Federation, these are 3 out of 4 welfare programs that the Union has proactively sought to bring benefits to a large number of union members in 2024. Along with the welfare programs being implemented, each year nearly 14,700 union members in the area will enjoy at least 1 benefit that the union brings from the welfare programs.
Focus resources on taking care of union members' welfare
Holding her union card, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy - a member of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Agriculture Union excitedly shared: “I have used the card many times to buy union member discounts when going to Co.opmart Nha Trang supermarket. Especially near Tet, with many essential products needed, the discount for union members like me can save 30-50%. That is a large discount. Therefore, most union members at the base register to buy goods to save that money to buy other items for Tet.”
This is the result after more than 5 years of Co.opmart Nha Trang participating in the union welfare program, each year there will be at least 2 union welfare sales and thousands of union members in Khanh Hoa have enjoyed such privileges when coming here to shop.
Deployed since March 2017, implementing the policy of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Khanh Hoa Provincial Confederation of Labor negotiated and signed 16 cooperation agreements on welfare programs for union members. By 2023, the entire Khanh Hoa Provincial Trade Union system had 44 signed cooperation agreements on welfare for union members. More than 50,000 union members and employees benefited from the program. Not only committed to incentives, but also coordinated programs to care for union members in programs to support building warm homes and supporting union members in difficult circumstances were also supported by partners.
