On the afternoon of November 21, the Central Mass Mobilization Commission's working delegation had a working session with the Party Delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL).
Mr. Mai Van Chinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Mass Mobilization Commission and Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Delegation, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - co-chaired the meeting.
The content of the working session focused on evaluating the implementation of Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW, dated June 12, 2021 of the Politburo on innovation of organization and operation of Vietnam Trade Union in the new situation.
According to the report of the Party Delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, implementing Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW of the Politburo, the activities of trade unions at all levels have undergone many innovations; quality and efficiency have been improved. Trade union activities have been strongly oriented towards the grassroots, focusing more on the tasks of representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of workers.
The Presidium and Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor have innovated their direction and management within their authority, promptly proposing a number of important policies to meet the requirements of the new situation. Trade union leaders at all levels have promoted their roles and responsibilities to union members and workers in promptly, creatively and promptly resolving tasks within their authority. Coordination in union activities by industry and administrative boundaries has been cohesive. Some pilot organization models have had initial results.
At the meeting, the representative of the Party Delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor informed the working delegation of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization about some contents such as that some localities and authorities have not paid adequate attention to the interests of workers in the general policy to attract investment from enterprises; some Party committees have not maintained the annual working session of the Party Standing Committee with the Trade Union organization, have not selected capable cadres, suitable for their strengths to work as trade union cadres; there are also localities and trade union cadres at the committee level have not had the conditions to mature into key cadres...
Regarding the difficulties of Party members and workers, the representative of the Party Delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor provided more information. Currently, in some localities, the number of workers suffering from serious illnesses is increasing; workers lack places to play and entertain, face difficulties in housing, stressful working hours, a lot of pressure, and low wages lead to them having to register for extra work, overtime, etc.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Delegation, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - thanked the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization for its close coordination with the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
At the same time, the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor provided some additional information related to the jobs and lives of union members and workers. Accordingly, currently union members and workers, especially those working in industrial parks and export processing zones, face many difficulties in housing - most of them have to rent rooms; there are no medical facilities in industrial parks and export processing zones, where there are many workers; many families of workers, because they cannot send their children to public kindergartens, have to send their children back to their hometowns to be with their families, so they lack parental love...
“In particular, due to the impact of the 4.0 industrial revolution, many businesses apply science and technology to production... which has affected the employment of workers. Therefore, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor proposes to have a fund or program to support vocational training for workers to help them have enough capacity and skills to meet the needs of businesses, thereby, new workers have stable jobs and can easily find new jobs" - Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang expressed his opinion...
Concluding the working session, Mr. Mai Van Chinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Mass Mobilization Commission - assessed that the Vietnam Trade Union is increasingly affirming its important and worthy role as an organization representing the working class, intellectuals and workers; and is a bridge between the Party, the State and the masses of workers, civil servants and laborers.
In the coming time, Mr. Mai Van Chinh proposed that the Party Delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor soon promulgate the Charter of the Vietnam Trade Union (term XIII) and provide guidance on the implementation of the Charter of the Vietnam Trade Union; promptly develop a plan to organize a survey of the implementation results of Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW of the Politburo "On innovation of organization and operation of Vietnam Trade Union in the new situation" in a number of provincial and municipal Party Committees after 3 years of implementing the Resolution, coordinate with the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization to advise on a plan to review 5 years of implementing Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW.
The Trade Union continues to focus on performing well the task of representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of members and employees; most recently, the activity of taking care of the Lunar New Year 2025 for members and employees. At the same time, it continues to strengthen the trust and attachment of members and employees to the Trade Union organization; attracting employees to join the Vietnam Trade Union.
