Not afraid of difficulties, not afraid of suffering
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Dan, born in 1985, from Nghi Loc district, Nghe An province. In 2003, when he turned 18, he left his hometown to Quang Ninh to study intermediate level of underground mining at Hong Cam Mining College - TKV. After graduating in 2005, Mr. Dan started working at Duong Huy Coal Company - TKV. In 2016, he was honored to be admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Currently, Mr. Dan is a 5/5 miners, production team leader, occupational safety and hygiene team leader of the 5 Coal mining workshop.
During his work, he has had 10 technical innovation initiatives, contributing to improving production efficiency and ensuring labor safety. One of his typical initiatives is Using a valve cluster shield to control the price of the object frame.
Previously, when there was no such barrier, many workers accidentally touched the control valve without knowing it, or rocks and soil were thrown into the valve cluster during the blasting process, causing equipment damage. He has proposed using rubber pads to protect the control valve cluster, helping to reduce risks and repair costs. The initiative was later replicated throughout the company.
With 20 years of being a miners, Mr. Dan confided: "Although the miners job is hard and arduous, it has given me a stable life, training me in discipline and team spirit. I always keep in mind that working must be dedicated, not afraid of difficulties and hardships, and attach importance to the safety of the underpass. All of my initiatives are just solutions to rationalize production, protect the safety of workers and equipment, nothing big enough. Each working terrain and each exploitation area has its own characteristics, so I always try to further improve these initiatives and let the initiatives flexibly adapt to each specific working condition. Thinking about initiatives is not to compete, but to serve the practical work".
A support for young miners
In addition to providing useful initiatives, Mr. Dan is also active in accompanying and guiding new workers and trainees. In the past 2 years, he has trained three new workers and two trainees, helping them become solidly skilled miners, mastering modern mining technology.
Mr. Hoang Dinh Cong, a miners born in 1990 who was paired by Mr. Dan, shared: "Mr. Dan rarely speaks but is very meticulous when instructing new workers like us. He always reminds them of working style, labor safety, and carefully checking construction sites to ensure compliance with technical procedures. Working with Mr. Dan, I learned a lot about professional skills and a sense of responsibility".
Mr. Dao Trung Huy - Chairman of the Trade Union of Duong Huy Coal Company - said: "Comrade Dan is an exemplary party member of the company. Thanks to that, his annual income is from 300 - 500 million VND. Thanks to miners like Mr. Dan, in 2024, the mining company reached 2.5 million tons of coal, reaching the designed capacity of the Khe Tam coal mine. Duong Huy Coal Company currently has more than 3,500 officers, workers and employees. To achieve this success, in addition to investing in equipment, the company especially values the human factor".
His efforts and hard work have helped Mr. Dan receive many noble and outstanding awards such as being awarded the title of "Miner - Soldier" 5 times. In particular, in 2022, he was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister for his outstanding achievements in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style in the period of 2017-2021.
