Although Vietnam ranks 6th out of 40 countries and territories according to WIN's Worldwide Independent Market Research Network (WIN) AI Index, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in Vietnam has not yet become a popular habit.
The survey conducted by Indochina Research shows that Vietnamese people have a high level of trust and acceptance of AI, but the actual use is much lower than their potential.
Accordingly, Vietnam ranks 3rd globally in terms of trust (65.6 points) and 5th in terms of AI acceptance (71.6 points). However, the actual usage index only reached 37.6 points, ranking 17th - the lowest among component indexes. Although about 60% of surveyed people have used AI, only 3% use it every day.

The main driving force behind the use of AI comes from young people (18 - 34 years old), especially in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. In these two cities, nearly 9/10 people aged 18-24 said they have proactively used AI.
In contrast, in Da Nang and Can Tho, the employment rate is significantly lower. Of the group of people aged 55-64 in Da Nang, only 1/10 have experienced this technology.
Mr. Xavier Depouilly, General Director of Indochina Research Vietnam, said that young Vietnamese people are playing an important role in digital transformation. Although the frequency of AI use in Vietnam is still lower than some countries in the region, the readiness to embrace new technology is a positive signal. According to him, many young Vietnamese people are "jumping technology", overcoming old stages to directly access modern AI applications.
To take advantage of the existing advantages, Vietnam needs to expand AI access outside urban areas, enhance education and communication to reduce concerns, and build transparent and reliable AI systems. Comprehensive and inclusive development will be the key for Vietnam to maintain its position and go further in the digital age.
