fierce competition, candidates worry about difficulties in passing the Pedagogical School
Nearly 17,500 candidates took part in the pedagogical competence assessment exam on May 17-18, organized by Hanoi National University of Education, with an increase of nearly 6,000 compared to last year. The exam is held in many localities across the country to meet the great demand of candidates, in which Math, Literature and English have the highest registration number.

Candidates from many provinces and cities such as Ninh Binh, Hung Yen, Dak Lak share the pressure but still maintain an optimistic spirit, try to promote personal advantages and choose many admission methods to increase their chances of being admitted.
The results of the pedagogical competency assessment exam are recognized by 25 universities nationwide as the admission method. Candidates take the exam in two days, with the exam being assessed to have an expanded structure and be practical, creating opportunities for differentiation and accurate assessment of candidates' abilities. Abolish route allocation, first-level admission according to the principle of near-home from 2026
The Ministry of Education and Training plans to apply the "near-home" enrollment principle from the 2026-2027 school year, instead of following the current administrative boundaries. This information was shared by Minister Nguyen Kim Son during a working session with the leaders of Quang Ninh province, in the context of rearranging administrative units, transferring kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools to commune management, while the provincial level continues to manage high schools.
Admission according to the "near" principle will rely on a GIS map (geographic information system), helping to accurately determine the actual residence of students to arrange appropriate learning locations. Ho Chi Minh City has been at the forefront of applying this model since 2023, bringing many advantages for travel and reducing the situation of studying on the other side of the road, "running" household registration.
Parents, especially in big cities like Hanoi, support this change, because the current route of land division causes many inconveniences, especially for families living near schools but whose administrative boundaries are distorted. Admission according to actual geographical locations is expected to create more fairness, convenience and transparency for students and their families. See more...

Proposed way to calculate preferential allowances for accountants and school clerks
The Ministry of Education and Training is soliciting opinions on a draft Decree regulating preferential allowances according to occupations for school staff, such as libraries, clerical schools, accountants, health workers, etc., with the highest rate of up to 25%. This is to improve income and motivate the working team of civil servants and employees in public educational institutions, who are receiving salaries according to the low coefficient of salary tables A0 or B.
Currently, most school staff only receive salaries according to the basic coefficient and do not receive preferential allowances like teachers. The lowest income is about 4.3 million VND/month. Some positions such as healthcare, accounting, treasurer, library... have responsibility allowances or are toxic but insignificant. The opportunity for promotion to increase salary or expand the salary strip is also very limited.
The shortage of school staff is common due to difficulty in recruiting with low salaries and benefits, while many people have to work part-time but are not paid for additional benefits. The draft proposes new allowances that are expected to help retain and attract human resources for positions supporting teaching and learning activities in schools. See more...
