According to the People's Committee of Dong Thap province, with over 134 thousand hectares of fruit trees and a production of over 2.5 million tons per year, the province is one of the localities with the largest fruit tree area in the country.
In particular, in recent years, Dong Thap has gradually shifted strongly from the "agricultural production" mindset to the "agricultural economy", developing industries according to the value chain, improving the quality, efficiency and competitiveness of products.

To date, Dong Thap province has been granted 3,452 planting area codes with an area of more than 100,000 hectares; from there, many key products such as mangoes, durians, jackfruit, grapefruit, longan,... have affirmed their position in the market, gradually meeting international export standards; contributing to improving the added value and competitiveness of Dong Thap agricultural products.
Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, Mr. Pham Thanh Ngai, Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee, said that the 1st Fruit Festival in 2026 is organized with the mission that this is not only an ordinary agricultural product festival, but also a forum to look back at the development journey, rethink how to do agriculture in the context of digital transformation and climate change.

Dong Thap expects this Festival to be a solid bridge, closely connecting "5 houses": Farmers - Scientists - Businesses - Credit and Logistics Systems. From there, opening up new cooperation spaces, continuing to promote the image of safe, quality, nutritious and imbued with regional cultural identity Vietnamese fruits.

Coming to the Fruit Festival, tourists and people will be immersed in a vibrant cultural space, from experiencing the space to display the value chain of the fruit industry, trade promotion fairs to orienting seminars.
Today's festival is just the beginning, what is it after the festival so that our people can have a better life, this is a big question that needs to be answered. Dong Thap province is committed to continuing to implement a constructive and serving government; strongly improving the investment and business environment; creating the most favorable conditions for businesses and investors to participate in developing agricultural infrastructure, deep processing and high value-added economic sectors" - Chairman of Dong Thap said.
