Could you tell us about the outstanding results of trade union activities and workers' movement in Thanh Hoa province in 2024?
- In 2024, the Standing Committee of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labor focused on directing the implementation of the assigned tasks, 32/32 targets were completed and exceeded (17 targets exceeded the plan); 12/12 targets assigned by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor were achieved and exceeded the plan (11 targets exceeded the plan); some targets achieved outstanding results: Developing union members, establishing grassroots unions and trade unions; dialogue; negotiating and signing the Collective Labor Agreement; introducing outstanding union members for the Party to consider admission; collecting union finances.
As of December 10, 2024, the whole province has 370,460 Trade Union members/375,910 employees (an increase of 28,311 union members compared to the same period in 2023); the rate of gathering and attracting employees is 98.5%. Total number of grassroots Trade Unions: 3,848 units. Of which, the grassroots Trade Union of the public service sector is 2,876; the grassroots Trade Union of the production and business sector is 926; and the grassroots Trade Union (STU) is 46.
One of the core activities of the Trade Union is to care for and protect the legitimate rights and interests of workers. How do the Thanh Hoa Trade Unions at all levels implement this, sir?
- Thanh Hoa Labor Federation always identifies the activities of caring for union members and employees as the focus of its work, on that basis, focusing on the grassroots to mobilize resources to promote activities of caring for and supporting union members and employees to stabilize their lives and work with peace of mind. Unions at all levels, agencies, units and enterprises organized visits and gave gifts to 340,074 union members and employees with a total amount of 318.1 billion VND (95.6 billion VND more than in 2023).
Welfare programs for union members and employees and social activities have been implemented, bringing practical benefits. Unions at all levels have organized and implemented cooperation agreements with 132 content partners to provide products and services with good quality and preferential prices compared to the market for union members and employees. There have been 605,527 union members and employees who have enjoyed preferential treatment with a total amount of 14.52 billion VND.
The Trade Unions closely coordinated with the professionals and employers to simultaneously organize "Union Meals"; 257 Trade Unions organized union meals with more than 75,000 members and employees benefiting; the total additional cost of "Union Meals" compared to daily meals was 2.69 billion VND.
Organized visits and presented gifts to 257,043 union members and employees with a total value of 44,848 billion VND... The Provincial Federation of Labor organized 4 working delegations to visit and present gifts to union members and employees in 12 provinces and cities that suffered heavy damage due to storm No. 3 with a total support amount of 1,050 billion VND...
The Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has chosen 2025 as the “Year of Union Member Development”. Could you please tell us about the results of this field in 2024 and the orientation for 2025?
- In 2024, the Provincial Federation of Labor established 143 grassroots unions (including 97 grassroots unions and 46 grassroots unions), developed 38,251 new union members, an increase of 28,311 union members.
At the end of 2024, Thanh Hoa Labor Federation was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for its outstanding achievements in developing union members, establishing grassroots trade unions and awarded the Emulation Flag for excellent units.
To effectively implement the 2025 theme of developing union members, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labor will continue to increase investment in resources for developing union members, establishing grassroots unions, and trade unions. Foster and improve the capacity of grassroots union officials, especially key officials and new officials, focusing on training in skills of developing union members, establishing grassroots unions, and skills of dialogue and negotiation.
In 2025, the Labor Federation will promote the results achieved in 2024. Trade unions at all levels in the province will continue to strive to complete and exceed the set targets, successfully carry out assigned tasks, and contribute to building a civilized and prosperous Thanh Hoa homeland.
