On the morning of May 5, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan visited M.T.A - a victim of a serious traffic accident being treated at the National Children's Hospital after receiving a report "Nam Dinh General Hospital requires enough money for emergency care".
At the hospital bed, the Minister encouraged the family, and affirmed that the health sector would make the highest effort to care for and treat the baby. "The doctors of the National Hospital of Pediatrics are the leading experts, have had emergency surgery in the night, now they have passed the critical stage, can breathe on their own. Family is assured, we will do everything for the best treatment for her" - Minister shared.

Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Minh Dien, Director of the National Children's Hospital, said that the child patient was transferred from Nam Dinh General Hospital on the night of March 3 in critical condition due to being run over by a tractor. Doctors quickly diagnosed the image and performed emergency surgery that night.
By the morning of May 5, the patient's condition had improved a lot. After 1 day of ventilating, the patient had stopped the ventilator and breathed on his own. The patient is past the critical stage.
The Minister affirmed that he had requested the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management to send a document to the Nam Dinh Department of Health to urgently review the process of receiving and treating M.T.A. for emergency treatment according to the provisions of Article 44, Law on Medical Examination and Treatment No. 15/2023/QH15. At the same time, if violations are detected, related individuals and groups will be strictly handled.
According to the Minister, the Ministry of Health has directed coordination with the National Children's Hospital to review professional limitations (if any) to promptly rectify. The Ministry of Health is currently focusing on innovating the spirit and attitude of serving the people, focusing on patient satisfaction.
treating patients is a top priority, regardless of the reason. Nam Dinh Department of Health has invited PA03 - Provincial Police to join in reviewing the patient admission process. The results will be reported to the Chairman of Nam Dinh Provincial People's Committee and the Ministry of Health for appropriate handling plans. If there are violations, they will be strictly handled" - the Minister emphasized.
On May 4, the Nam Dinh Provincial Department of Health said it had received a quick report from the Provincial General Hospital reflecting that "must pay the full hospital fee to provide emergency care" for M.T.A (4 years old) who was in a traffic accident.
According to the report, at 4:03 p.m. on May 3, the child was admitted to the hospital in a conscious state with scratches. Even though they have not paid or registered for examination, doctors still examine, prescribe paraclinical drugs and provide emergency care. At 5:45 p.m., the child was transferred to the National Children's Hospital.
The hospital affirmed that no one said " pay enough money for emergency care". The person who temporarily provided the children's care paid 500,000 VND, without being asked for more. Administrative exchanges may cause misunderstandings.
The Department of Health requires the hospital to rectify the on-duty, review the emergency procedure and handle any violations.
However, Mr. H.T.T - the person who took the child to the emergency room - confirmed that the reflection was correct. He said he was required to pay the full amount to be examined even though he only brought 500,000 VND.
