Dak Lak - In the past week, the whole province recorded more than 500 cases of dengue fever infection.

On August 11, the Dak Lak Provincial Center for Disease Control (CDC) informed that in the past week, the whole province recorded more than 500 cases of dengue fever, with 29 new outbreaks.

Cases are mainly concentrated in localities such as Cu Kuin, Cu M'Gar, Ea H'leo, Ea Sup, Krong Ana, Krong Bong, Krong Pac, Buon Ma Thuot, Dong Xuan and Song Hinh.

In week 31, the whole province recorded 29 new dengue fever outbreaks. Since the beginning of the year, Dak Lak has recorded 160 outbreaks, of which 67 outbreaks are active and 93 outbreaks have ended.

According to the Dak Lak Provincial CDC, many localities have seen a high increase in dengue fever cases and for many consecutive weeks. Notably, the number of cases in the past week has increased sharply, the highest since the beginning of 2026 to date.

The Provincial CDC warns of the risk of the epidemic continuing to spread and prolong in the coming time, especially when Dak Lak is entering the peak of the rainy season. This is a favorable condition for dengue fever transmitting mosquitoes to reproduce and develop, increasing the risk of disease spread.

Mr. Hoang Hai Phuc - Director of Dak Lak Provincial CDC - said that from the beginning of the year to now, the whole province has recorded more than 3,100 cases of dengue fever.

According to Mr. Phuc, epidemic prevention and control work in some communes and wards has not been given due attention, lacking proactiveness. Some localities let the epidemic develop complicatedly, beyond the ability to control it on the spot, and must request the provincial CDC to support more manpower and materials to handle outbreaks.

Although the Provincial CDC and the Department of Health have issued many directives and guidelines for epidemic prevention and control, in some localities, dengue fever prevention and control in the community has not been given attention and proactively implemented," Mr. Phuc said.

The Director of Dak Lak Provincial CDC also said that human resources and medical supplies in some areas are still lacking and weak, affecting the effectiveness of monitoring, handling outbreaks and preventing and controlling dengue fever.

Faced with the increasing developments of dengue fever, the health sector proposed that localities strengthen surveillance, detect early and thoroughly handle outbreaks; and at the same time promote propaganda and mobilize people to proactively kill larvae and pupae, remove water containers, and prevent mosquitoes from having conditions to reproduce and develop.
