Fox News' latest storm and low pressure news says that low pressure area Invest 90L may strengthen into a new tropical depression on June 23.
The Atlantic hurricane season began on June 1 and has been three weeks without any forming.
However, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) is monitoring a low pressure area in the central subtropical Atlantic. Forecasters say the system is named Invest 90L and continues to strengthen.
Invest 90L is about 725 km east of Bermuda. The system has been reinforced since the evening of June 22, causing showers and thunderstorms.
"Previous satellite wind data shows that the system has a clearly defined surface circulation. If showers and thunderstorms continue to organize better, a short-lived tropical depression could form within the next day or so," the US National Hurricane Center said in its June 22 evening bulletin.
Currently, the US National Hurricane Center believes that the Invest 90L low pressure area is likely to develop at an average level in the next 2 days.
The latest low pressure in the Atlantic is forecast to encounter less favorable environments from June 24, ending the chance of strengthening further.
Because this depression moves northeast at a speed of about 8-16 km/h in a large area of the mid- Atlantic Ocean, whether it strengthens into a storm or not, it will not threaten any mainland areas.
If it strengthens into a storm, the system will be named Hurricane Andrea. On average, the first named storm in the Atlantic usually forms around June 20. The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30.
The seasonally forecast for this year's Atlantic hurricane season predicts that this year's hurricane season will be intense, with dozens of storms forming. However, the CPC's immediate forecast shows no signs of a hurricane in the Atlantic hurricane formation area, including the Caribbean, before July 8.
Meanwhile, the typhoon season in the eastern Pacific is already very active. Five have been named since the season began on May 15. The most recent storm, Hurricane Erick, hit the southern coast of Mexico with sustained winds of over 200km/h, becoming a Category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson hurricane wind scale.
