The latest typhoon information on November 20 from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that no typhoon forming or entering the Philippine Forecast Area (PAR) will be monitored until at least the end of this week.
Previously, PAGASA's storm forecast for the afternoon of November 19 said that there were 2 low pressure areas expected to form from now until early December near the Philippines.
The first low pressure is forecast to form during the week of November 19 to November 25 in the PAGASA TCAD forecast area, then enter the Philippine Forecast Area (PAR). This low pressure near the Philippines will continue to operate until the week of November 26 to December 2. During the forecast period, this low pressure will affect the Visayas - Southern Luzon region, Philippines and then enter the East Sea.
The forecast area of influence of this low pressure covers the entire area between the East Sea and approaches Vietnam. In terms of intensity, the new low pressure is expected to strengthen into a tropical depression or storm at a low to moderate level when operating in the East Sea.
After the first depression enters the South China Sea, another depression is expected to form near the Philippines, at the southeastern boundary of the PMD forecast area, then gradually move into the PAR. Compared to the first depression, this depression is less likely to strengthen into a storm or tropical depression.
The next storm name for the 2025 typhoon season in the Philippines is Verbena.
Also in the November 20 bulletin, PAGASA expert Chenel Dominguez said that the tropical convergence zone, wind shear, easterly winds and northeasterly monsoons will be the main phenomena affecting the weather in the Philippines in the coming days.
In particular, the tropical convergence zone affects the Davao, Soccsksargen, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi and Palawan areas. Meanwhile, wind shear will bring cloudy skies with scattered showers and thunderstorms in Cordillera, Cagayan, Isabela, New Mexico Vizcaya, Quirino and Aurora.
PAGASA's weather bulletin states that the northeast wind is expected to affect Quezon province.
Forecaster Chenel Dominguez pointed out that the rest of Mindanao will see cloudy to gloomy skies with scattered showers or thunderstorms due to the tropical convergence zone.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and other parts of the Philippines will see scattered showers and thunderstorms due to the easterly winds - winds blowing from the Pacific Ocean carrying hot and humid air.
