The latest weather forecast from the People's Daily on April 11 said that the National Meteorological Center (NMC) of China has issued a yellow warning for strong winds, a blue warning for sandstorms from April 10, warning of severe weather from April 11 to 13 as strong cold air crosses parts of China.
Ma Xuekuan, head of the weather forecast team at the National Meteorological Center, said that northern China is expected to see unusually strong typhoon winds at this time of year.
The eastern part of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and some northeastern regions of China are facing heavy snowfall, while southern parts of China are forecast to see the heaviest hail and convection weather of the year. Dust and sandstorms will also affect areas in northwestern China and Inner Mongolia.
This storm is characterized by prolonged, strong gusts and a high risk of disaster, warned Mr. Ma Xuekuan.

Due to rising temperatures before the cold front arrives, strong winds will affect many areas in central and eastern China from April 11 to 12.
Winds are forecast to range from 28.8 to 61.9 km/h, with gusts of up to 61.9 to 102 km/h at times, affecting parts of Beijing, the Xinjiang Autonomous Region and the provinces of Qinghai, Shandong, Jilin, Shandong, Heinan, Jiangsu and Anhui.
Sand and dust storms are expected to sweep across northern China over the next two days, including severe sandstorms in parts of Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang and Gansu Province.
Temperature is expected to drop by 6 to 10 degrees Celsius in central and eastern China, with a drop of 12 to 16 degrees Celsius in some parts of northwestern China, central and eastern Inner Mongolia, northern China and northeastern China.
In southern China, high humidity and unstable atmospheric energy will lead to serious convection. The strong collision between hot air and cold air on April 12 and 13 is expected to cause widespread heavy rain, with the most severe thunderstorms and hail of the year.
Mr. Ma Xuekuan forecasts moderate to heavy rain across southern China. From 11 to 13 April, a low pressure area is forecast to cause moderate to heavy snowfall or hail in some areas in northeastern China, some places are likely to experience snowstorms.
In Beijing, Lei Lei, head of weather forecasting at the Beijing Meteorological Observatory, said that strong winds are expected to occur in the Chinese capital from the evening of April 11 to April 13. The average wind speed can reach 49 km/h, with gusts of up to 117 km/h in the plains and 149 km/h or more in the mountains. Wind speeds exceeding 132 km/h are rare in history and trees with a diameter of about 30 cm can fall, he noted.
