On June 5, at the headquarters of the Party Central Committee Office, General Secretary and President To Lam received Mr. Eric Schmidt - former Chairman of Google Group, and a delegation of artificial intelligence experts who are visiting and working in Vietnam.
At the reception, General Secretary and President To Lam highly appreciated Mr. Eric Schmidt's contributions to the development of global technology and artificial intelligence. The General Secretary and President also highly appreciated the fact that Mr. Eric Schmidt and the delegation have actively coordinated with Vietnamese agencies to implement cooperation programs in the fields of artificial intelligence, high technology and innovation.
The General Secretary and President requested Mr. Eric Schmidt and the expert delegation to continue to pay attention to and support Vietnam in building visions, policies and an ecosystem for artificial intelligence development; connecting international resources, technology businesses, investment funds, research institutes and leading experts in the world to support Vietnam in developing human resources, technology businesses and innovation capacity.
At the same time, the General Secretary and President also requested members of the delegation, including Mr. Christopher Nguyen - General Director of Aitomatic Company, to continue to call on Vietnamese experts, intellectuals, and technology entrepreneurs abroad to accompany, contribute knowledge, experience and resources to the development of the country.
Mr. Eric Schmidt highly appreciated Vietnam's development as well as the vision and determination to innovate of Vietnamese leaders, especially in the fields of science, technology and innovation. He believes that Vietnam has many favorable conditions to develop the field of artificial intelligence, especially young, dynamic human resources, rapid adaptability and an increasingly favorable environment for innovation. He expressed his belief that artificial intelligence will contribute even more to Vietnam's growth.
Mr. Eric Schmidt reported to the General Secretary and President on working with Vietnamese partners to implement cooperation initiatives on artificial intelligence such as the National Multi-Platform Model Tapestry Project, the Data and Physical Production Data OS Project as well as the application of artificial intelligence in general education.
He affirmed that he will promote his experience and wide network of cooperation in the field of technology to connect Vietnam with suitable partners, support Vietnam in promoting digital transformation, developing artificial intelligence and improving innovation capacity.
The former Chairman of Google Group also expressed his desire to continue to exchange with agencies, businesses, research institutes, universities and experts of Vietnam to find practical cooperation directions in human resource training, research and development, supporting technology businesses and applying artificial intelligence to socio-economic fields.
Sharing the space and potential for cooperation between Vietnamese and US partners as well as in the world is still very large, Mr. Eric Schmidt affirmed that he will continue to think and make more efforts to make practical contributions to the development of science and technology and artificial intelligence of Vietnam.
