Implementing the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra in Official Letter No. 12729/VPCP-KGVX, the Minister of Home Affairs announced that state administrative agencies, public service units and enterprises will implement a schedule to exchange working days on the occasion of New Year 2026.
Cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers of state administrative agencies and public service units will have their working days swapped from Friday, January 2, 2026, to Saturday, January 10, 2026.
Thus, on the occasion of the 2026 New Year's holiday, civil servants and public employees will have 4 consecutive days off from Thursday, January 1, 2026 to Sunday, January 4, 2026 ( make up for the Saturday, January 10, 2026).
In addition, agencies and units implementing the above holiday schedule must arrange and work with appropriate departments to solve continuous work, ensuring good service to the organization and people.
In particular, the Ministry of Home Affairs pays special attention to sending civil servants and public employees on duty to handle unexpected and unexpected tasks that may occur. Agencies and units that do not implement a fixed schedule for Saturday and Sunday every week shall base on the specific program and plan of the unit to arrange a suitable holiday schedule in accordance with the provisions of law.
Ministries, agencies and localities have specific and appropriate plans and measures to encourage units, enterprises, organizations and individuals to actively and proactively implement measures to develop production, business, economic and social activities.
This ensures the supply and demand of goods and services, stabilizes prices and markets, contributes to promoting economic growth, practicing thrift, and fighting waste in the time before, during and after the 2026 New Year holiday.
The Ministry of Home Affairs encourages employers at enterprises to apply the 2026 New Year's holiday to employees as prescribed for civil servants and public employees but ensure full implementation of employees' regimes according to the provisions of law, and encourage more beneficial agreements for employees.
