On February 6, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized a national conference to train propaganda on the election of National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
Sharing information about the election, Mr. Nguyen Hai Long - Director of the Deputy Affairs Department of the National Assembly's Deputy Affairs Committee - said that according to the structure, the total number of National Assembly deputies of the 16th term is 500 people.
In which, the number of delegates in central agencies is 217 people (43.4%), the number of National Assembly delegates in localities is 283 people (56.6%).
217 central deputies will be divided to provinces and cities.
With 283 local delegates, Mr. Nguyen Hai Long said that there are 179 delegates, including heads of delegations, deputy heads of delegations and representatives of the Fatherland Front bloc (MTTQ). In this bloc, there are not only leaders of the MTTQ but also representatives of youth unions, women's unions, veterans associations, and labor federations.
Besides, there are also delegates representing religious, military, police, courts, procuracies, departments of justice, institutes - schools, and businesses.
According to Mr. Nguyen Hai Long, each province will have a key leader as head of the delegation (Secretary/Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, City Party Committee). 34 localities will have a total of 55 deputy heads of delegations, because besides provinces and cities with only one deputy head of delegation, there are also localities after the merger with 2-3 deputy heads of delegation.
The remaining 104 local delegates are the guiding structure introduced by the localities.
Notably, after announcing the election results on March 22, the first session of the 16th National Assembly will meet on April 6 to do personnel work along with content on law-making.
Sharing more about the new points in the election preparation work this time, Mr. Long emphasized that for the first time, voter lists were created on the VneID application implemented by the Ministry of Public Security.
Previously, it was inevitable that a voter was both listed at his place of residence and listed at his current workplace. But with the listing of voters on VneID, there will be no duplication," Mr. Nguyen Hai Long emphasized.
Another new point, according to Mr. Nguyen Hai Long, in the future, just opening the VneID application, voters will be able to see all information of candidates where they live.
The update of election data, according to Mr. Nguyen Hai Long, is expected to be updated every 2 hours, and election teams will update the number of voters going to vote on the system for the Central Government to know.
