Family devastated after horrifying shocks
One afternoon, we went to a house in Binh Phu hamlet, Giong Trom commune, Vinh Long province. The sad, cold atmosphere covered the place because of the family's tragic scene. Less than 3 months later, the parents passed away, leaving behind 3 orphaned children.
Sitting in a majestic position next to the altar, suspected of the incense smoke of his daughter Nguyen Thi Truc Linh (born in 1982), Mr. Nguyen Van Tam (born in 1961) could not hold back his heavy sighing. The eyes of the old father were red, filled with the hairs of anxiety and despair.
"In the past... my life was full of tragedy," Mr. Tam choked up. The disaster came at the end of August when his son-in-law, Mr. Vo Van Cuong, died of a stroke. Before he could cope with the loss, at the end of November, his daughter - Ms. Nguyen Thi Truc Linh - suddenly died in a tragic traffic accident.
In less than 3 months, the two brothers Vo Thien Nhan (born in 2016, studying in class 4.1) and Vo Minh Khue (born in 2019, studying in class 1/2, both studying at Binh Thanh 1 Primary School, Giong Trom commune) lost both parents and became orphans at an early age.
"Now, my wife and I are taking care of our two children. When I was old, I cried alone, when I was young, I was innocent and kept asking for help from my mother... seeing me away was so heartbreaking! ", Mr. Tam exclaimed.
The burden does not stop at mental pain. Mr. Tam said that the medical debt left for the two children's father was also a concern along with taking care of the two children's education.
Mr. Tam himself is past working age, and his wife has a heart disease. Living by the kindness of his children, ensuring their future education is a big concern.
An earnest call from the village-level neighborhood
Witnessing the family getting into the same situation, Ms. Le Cam Thi, Mr. Tam's family's neighbor - could not help but be moved and say that Mr. and Mrs. Tam were old and had a constant illness.
"I just hope that the benefactors from near and far will help so that the two children can continue to go to school and have a better future," Ms. Thi added.
Ms. Nguyen Thi An - Vice President of the Red Cross Society of Giong Trom commune, Vinh Long province said that the locality has been actively finding ways to help the orphaned situation of the two children Vo Thien Nhan and Vo Minh Khue.
According to Ms. An, since her parents passed away, Nhan and Khue have returned to live with their grandparents in difficult family circumstances, and the locality has actively cared for them in their abilities, prioritizing giving and giving gifts to the benefactors who came to the locality.
At the same time, the locality also confirmed the application for the family to send to the Provincial Red Cross Society for consideration of supporting the family of the two children to overcome difficulties.
Currently, the locality is reviewing and advising on the appropriate level of support so that the two students can continue to go to school, not having to leave their studies unfinished due to too many incidents. I just hope they have a brighter future and don't have to suffer any more disadvantages.
"The great pain of orphanhood fell on the young shoulders of the two children. Mr. Nguyen Van Tam's family really needs the cooperation of the community so that the two children can continue to go to school, maintaining the fire of hope amid the difficulties", Ms. An added.
