Lao Dong Newspaper Legal Consulting Office replied:
Article 24 of the Law on Forces Participating in Protecting Security and Order at the Grassroots Level stipulates the regime and policies for those participating in this force when they are sick, have an accident, die, or are injured while performing their duties as follows:
1. People who have participated in social insurance and health insurance and are eligible for insurance will receive benefits from the insurance fund according to the provisions of law.
2. People who have not participated in health insurance but get sick, have an accident or are injured will be supported to pay for medical examination and treatment costs.
3. People who have not participated in social insurance and have an accident that reduces their ability to work according to the conclusion of the Medical Assessment Council will be considered for benefits depending on the level of reduced ability to work; if they die, their relatives will receive a death benefit and funeral allowance.
4. People who are injured or die while performing their duties will be considered for the same benefits and policies as war invalids or will be considered for recognition as martyrs and enjoy other rights as prescribed by law.
5. The Government shall detail Clauses 2 and 3 of this Article.
Thus, those who participate in the security and order protection force at the grassroots level and die while performing their duties will be considered for the same regime and policies as war invalids or will be considered for recognition as martyrs and enjoy other rights as prescribed by law.
