Mr. Nguyen Van Quang, Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee, said that Da Nang strongly supports Thua Thien - Hue becoming a centrally-governed city.

On October 2, at the meeting with voters to prepare for the 8th Session of the 15th National Assembly, Mr. Nguyen Van Quang, Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee, said that Da Nang strongly supports Thua Thien - Hue becoming a centrally-governed city.

"If Hue becomes a centrally-governed city, for the first time in the history of Vietnam, especially the Central region, there will be two centrally-governed cities adjacent to each other. This, according to the assessment, will have an interactive impact on the socio-economic development process as well as promote the development of the central coastal region," said Mr. Nguyen Van Quang.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Quang, the project has solved a problem that has existed for nearly 50 years between the two localities, which is the demarcation of administrative boundaries related to Hai Van mountain and Son Tra island (according to the name of Da Nang city).

Regarding the delimitation, the Government and the Ministry of Home Affairs have agreed on the views.

The Government will have a resolution on demarcating the boundaries, specifically assigning Da Nang to manage and use the southern part of Hai Van mountain with more than 100 hectares; Son Tra island of about 150 hectares will also be assigned to Da Nang to manage, serving to ensure national defense and security, and socio-economic development.
