Foreigners have difficulty accessing technology
On March 8, the National Agricultural Extension Center coordinated with the People's Committee of Bac Lieu province to organize a workshop on " applying science and technology in salt production to adapt to climate change".
At the workshop, many cooperatives and salt farmers hope to soon access and transfer scientific and technical achievements to saltwater.
Mr. Ho Minh Chien - Chairman of the Board of Directors, General Director of Long Dien Dong Clean Salt Cooperative (Dong Hai District, Bac Lieu Province) - proposed to soon access post-harvest production and preservation technology. According to Mr. Chien, applying science and technology to salt production is very cost-effective for production costs.

Da Nang Tran Viet Trung in Long Dien Dong commune (Dong Hai district) shared that applying science and technology to the production of salt in Da Nang is facing many difficulties because the majority have not yet accessed capital.
"Making salt is something that every Vietnamese knows. However, to promote production development, bring machinery and scientific and technical advances into production, the most basic thing is capital. But access to capital sources still faces many obstacles, Mr. Trung suggested.

Vice Chairman of Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee Huynh Chi Nguyen affirmed that salt production plays an important role in the economy and life of many coastal localities. However, climate change is causing negative impacts, directly affecting salt output and quality. Therefore, applying science and technology to salt production is an urgent requirement, contributing to improving the competitiveness and sustainable development of the Vietnamese salt industry.
The Ministry acknowledges and promises to resolve the issue soon
According to the National Agricultural Extension Center, in recent times, the forestry sector has gradually applied technical advances and Mechanization in production. However, the application is not much, mainly manual. Most stages of production still have to use direct labor, low labor productivity, production mainly based on experience, manual labor, unstable raw equipment, salt products with low scientific and technological content. Therefore, the transfer and application of science, technology and engineering in the field of entomology needs more attention.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Hieu - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Bac Lieu province - said that, in addition to the existing potential and advantages in developing salt production, the local forestry sector still has some difficulties and problems such as the income of forestryers is not high, not commensurate with the labor effort, largely dependent on traders and production is completely dependent on weather conditions. Bac Lieu province's salt copper is located on weak alluvial land, and must be invested in and renovated every year to serve production, so the cost of investing in mechanizing to serve salt production is high.

Mr. Hoang Van Hong - Deputy Director of the National Agricultural Extension Center - said that shares and recommendations from units, businesses, localities, especially farmers in the provinces, will be compiled by the professional sector and sent to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and central ministries and branches to have reasonable adjustment policies, in order to help sustainably develop the salt industry.
