According to the forecast of the Hydrometeorological Station of Hau Giang province, in November, due to the influence of high tides combined with the Northeast monsoon and local rain, there will be 2 high water levels in the province causing local flooding.
Accordingly, the first high tide occurred from November 2-6. At Phung Hiep Hydrological Station on Cai Con River, the highest water level was from 1.67 - 1.72m; the highest water level was from 0.87 - 0.92m at Vi Thanh Hydrological Station on Xa No River, causing moderate to severe flooding in low-lying areas.
The second high tide (full moon of the 10th lunar month) occurred from November 17 to 20. The highest water level at Phung Hiep Hydrological Station on Cai Con River and Vi Thanh Hydrological Station, on Xa No River was from 1.60 - 1.68m and 0.82 - 0.87m respectively, above alert level 3, causing moderate to severe flooding in low-lying areas and areas with poor drainage.
Hau Giang Province's Hydrometeorological Station also warned that in November, activities of high-altitude disturbances, low-pressure areas, high tides, natural disasters such as thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, floods, and landslides will develop complicatedly.
To minimize damage caused by storms, high tides, and floods, the authorities of Hau Giang province recommend that localities proactively monitor developments and forecasts of rain and floods to promptly respond to unusual developments; promptly organize repairs and reinforcement of dike sections, embankments, and works at risk of incidents or showing signs of insecurity.
