Flood-prone images
After two days of working in the flooded areas in Cam Due commune, I clearly felt the hardship, fatigue, and even fatigue from the floods of people in the flood-prone areas under the large Ke Go lake irrigation project.
On November 2, after Ke Go lake regulates to reduce overflow to 300m3/s, floodwaters in Phu Thuong village, Cam Due commune will gradually recede.
The small house is located next to National Highway 8C near Cho Vuc Bridge. As soon as the water receded from the floor, old woman Nguyen Thi Tue (102 years old, living in Phu Thuong village) held a broom to clean up mud and water to drain.
"Yesterday, people took me to a safe place to evacuate. Near noon, the water receded, so I returned to clean up and wip the mud. The water was about 30cm deep into my house, so it was better than many other families, Ms. Tue shared.
At the age of longevity and rarity, Mr. Tue is still alert and quite agile. Mr. Tue shared that, feeling sorry for the countryside, his children and grandchildren every rainy season, the water flooded deep into their house, making it difficult to worry about protecting their lives and property. After the flood, we struggled to clean up mud, clean the environment, and prevent epidemics.

Previously, on November 1, when the flood water was flowing rapidly and rising, flooding began to occur, Ms. Vo Thi Dinh (83 years old, residing in Tan My village) was evacuated to higher ground by relatives using a boat.
With her back on the back and children's steps unable to walk firmly, Mrs. Dinh said that at her old age and weak strength, every time she evacuates to avoid the flood, she is very tired and haunted.
"The land below my hamlet is low, flooded very deeply every year. Before leaving home to evacuate, the water had flooded my house for about a foot, Ms. Dinh shared.

According to Ms. Dinh, living under the Ke Go lake project, people have the advantage of growing ready-made irrigation water in their fields, without worrying about drought. However, the rainy season is very difficult because the spillway will be flooded first and flooded very deeply, sometimes if it cannot be properly listed, it will suffer great damage and losses. Even people's lives are at stake.
Night-time advertising of assets
On National Highway 8C, the main road through Cam Due Commune, in Tan My Village, hundreds of cars, motorbikes, and tractors were parked on both sides of the road by local residents to avoid flooding. Even the cows were brought here to avoid damage.
Mr. Phan Van Son (40 years old, living in Tan My village) said that on the evening of October 31, the floodwaters came quickly, his house had a basement on the 2nd floor, so everyone in the house focused on moving their assets up high.
"At around 1 o'clock at night, the water had reached the first staircase on the first floor, the water entered very quickly, so we had to move our belongings until early in the morning to finish. In the morning, the water had flooded the bed on the first floor, Mr. Son shared.
Mr. Son confided that the story of flood running is familiar to people here because they live in low-lying areas along the Ngan Mo river, which is downstream of Ke Go lake, so they are directly affected every time the lake overflows. However, it is really tiring to deal with complex and unpredictable natural disasters and floods every year.

Ms. Bui Thi Mai (43, residing in Tan My village) was sad - said that her family's livestock farm was deeply flooded. 8 quintals of newly purchased pig's blood were flooded and damaged.
Even worse is the 11,000m2 fish pond flooded with ice, the possibility is that all the fish raised in the pond have been released, causing great damage.
"Yesterday night, we focused on listing assets at home, so we did not have time to handle and list them to avoid flooding. Life fighting floods is really tiring, Ms. Mai shared.
On the morning of November 2, the previous floodwaters were about 30cm deep into the house and had dragged out onto the street. Mai and her mother were busy cleaning up and washing away the mud.
On the same day, Ha Tinh Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Duy Lam, Vice Chairman of Ho Huy Thanh Provincial People's Committee and leaders of a number of departments and branches of Ha Tinh directly inspected the flood situation in Cam Due commune.
According to the report, floods and rains forced Cam Due commune to evacuate 795 households/1395 people to safety. The whole commune had 2,950 flooded houses.

Previously, on November 1, Ke Go Lake released 600m3/s of overflow, then based on the amount of water flowing into the lake and weather developments, it was regulated to decrease. By the morning of November 2, the overflow had decreased to 400m3/s.
After listening to the local report on the flood response, Secretary Nguyen Duy Lam highly appreciated the proactive response of the Party Committee, local government and all people.
The Provincial Party Secretary requested to continue to do a good job of ensuring the safety of people's lives above all, along with ensuring and minimizing property damage caused by floods.

When people's houses are flooded, proactively carry out relief work well, share temporary necessities, in the immediate future such as clean water, instant noodles, and dry food.
Millions of arms turn to compatriots affected by storms and floods
Consecutive storms and floods have caused many deaths, missing and injuries; many houses and production and business establishments have had their roofs blown off and suffered heavy damage. People across the northern mountainous provinces and the central provinces are struggling to cope with floods and heavy losses in human lives and property due to floods and thunderstorms.
