Quang Ngai - In the mountainous area of Quang Ngai province, 6 large and small earthquakes have occurred in succession.

On August 31, according to the Earthquake and Tsunami Warning Center - Institute of Earth Sciences, in a short time, the mountainous area of Quang Ngai province continuously experienced 6 earthquakes.

The first earthquake occurred at 0:41:16 on August 31, with a magnitude of 4.0 degrees, at the location with coordinates 14.904° North latitude - 108.153° East longitude, focal depth of about 8.1km. The earthquake occurred in the area of Mang But commune, Quang Ngai province.

The remaining battles will occur in the following hours with the epicenter located in Mang But commune. Among them, the largest battle has a magnitude of 4.0, the smallest battle is 2.8; the focal depth is about 8.1km.

All earthquakes have a disaster risk level of 0. However, the Earthquake and Tsunami Warning Center - Institute of Earth Sciences is still continuing to monitor earthquake developments in this area.

The mountainous area of Quang Ngai is entering the rainy season. In recent days, prolonged rain, along with the appearance of earthquakes, may potentially affect the safety of the project.

The provincial government has established a working group to inspect the safety status of irrigation and hydropower dams in the upstream area.

At the same time, the province recommends that dam owners thoroughly check the safety level of the works; install monitoring equipment, inspect dam bodies, monitor basins and weather developments to proactively prevent and handle remote incidents that may occur.

The rainy and storm season is approaching, and the inspection and safety assurance of dams and reservoirs, along with monitoring earthquake developments, need to be carried out closely and regularly.
