Quang Tri - Prolonged heavy rain caused many villages in Bac Trach commune to be deeply flooded, people were busy cleaning, raising their belongings, and bringing livestock to safety to escape the flood.

In recent days, prolonged heavy rains in Quang Tri province have caused water from upstream to flow in, causing flooding in many areas.

According to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters at noon on October 31, in Tien Phong village (Bac Trach commune), many roads were submerged in water, some houses were flooded, making travel difficult.

Ms. Le Thi Hoa, a resident in the village, said that the rain started to get heavier from the afternoon of October 29 and the water rose rapidly at night.

"Water has flooded into the yard. The whole family had to put up furniture and make beds. Duck chickens must also be put on tables and shelves to avoid flooding," said Ms. Hoa.

According to her, the water rose very quickly, so everyone was worried, had to prioritize the safety of others first, then gradually move their belongings. "If the water continues to rise, we will evacuate to relatives' houses in a higher area," she shared.

Mr. Vo Thanh Tu - Head of Tien Phong village said that the village has assigned officials to each group and hamlet to grasp the situation. single-parent households, the elderly, and pregnant women are given priority to move to safe areas.

"We send forces to be on duty regularly, support people in clearing their assets, moving livestock, and at the same time warn people not to go through deep water areas," said Mr. Tu.

The People's Committee of Bac Trach commune informed that many villages in the whole commune were heavily flooded. The government has mobilized responsible officials to go to the grassroots to coordinate with the villages to support the people.

Militia forces and youth unions have also been mobilized to help move assets, distribute necessities and monitor flood developments.

Currently, the rain has not stopped, many areas in the commune are still flooded from 0.3 - 0.6m. The government and people are proactively responding, preparing evacuation plans when the water continues to rise.
