Waiting for a happy day
Mr. Nguyen Van Quyet, in An Thanh commune, Can Tho city, shared that for decades, people have been used to the scene of "traveling by boat" across the river, encountering many difficulties in transportation and trade. Everyone hopes for a bridge, but thinks that it will be difficult to make a reality because the Hau River is large and near the estuary. When the Dai Ngai 2 bridge project started construction in October 2023, the entire coastal area burst into joy and hope.
Not only on the ferry, along the roads along the construction site every afternoon, people also regularly go out to see the construction progress. Each new bridge span is installed with hope.
Mr. Huynh Van Tuan, An Thanh commune, shared: "Every day I go out to see where the bridge is built. Now that I have a clear shape, I dare to believe it is real.
An Thanh and Cu Lao Dung communes (formerly Cu Lao Dung district, Soc Trang province) were once fertile land, but their geographically isolated location due to the surrounding river system has hindered the development of the locality. When Dai Ngai 2 Bridge is formed and is about to be put into use, it is expected to create momentum for the locality to exploit maximum potential in the fields of tourism, agriculture, aquaculture and commercial services.
According to Project Management Board 85, the investor, is currently coordinating with the locality to carry out temporary traffic opening procedures, creating conditions for people and vehicles to pass through, transporting agricultural products quickly and safely. A traffic sign system has also been installed to ensure safety during traffic.
Mr. Nguyen Anh Duc, the officer in charge of safety of the Dai Ngai 2 Bridge Project (Construction Corporation No. 1 - CC1), said that the main bridge section has been basically completed, reaching nearly 100% of the volume. Contractors are completing the bridge deck aesthetics, while the approach bridges and approach roads at both ends of the bridge are being monitored by loads to sunk. It is expected that by the end of October 2025, all access roads will be unloaded and completed in 2025.
Rach Mieu Bridge is about to be "rescued"
These days, it is noted that at the Rach Mieu 2 bridge construction site - a key project connecting the two provinces of Vinh Long and Dong Thap - the atmosphere is bustling but full of excitement when the main items have been completed. According to the plan, the project will be inaugurated and officially opened to traffic on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2.
Mr. Pham Van Dat - in charge of package No. 2 said that up to this point, the workload within the unit's scope has been 100% completed. According to Mr. Dat, there are currently only a few workers at the construction site who are performing the final stages such as cleaning, collecting labor tools and cleaning the construction area.
In package 3, Mr. Ho Van Huan - technical officer in charge of construction - said that the main items have been basically completed, ensuring technical requirements and progress according to plan.

* The Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project is over 17km long, with a total investment of over VND6,810 billion. In particular, the main bridge is designed with a cable-stayed structure, nearly 2km long with a scale of 4 lanes, designed speed of 80km/h. The project started in March 2022; expected to be completed in August 2025. After being put into use, the project will significantly reduce the load on National Highway 60 and the existing Rach Mieu Bridge - where congestion often occurs during peak holidays and Tet.
* The Dai Ngai bridge project has a total length of more than 15km, with a total investment of nearly VND8,000 billion. The project consists of 2 main bridges including Dai Ngai 1 and Dai Ngai 2. When completed, the bridge will cross National Highway 60, shortening about 80km of the distance from the Mekong Delta coastal provinces to Ho Chi Minh City, opening up new development opportunities for the entire region.
