Airport scale of 5,000ha
The Long Thanh airport project has an area of more than 5,000ha located in Long Thanh ward, Dong Nai City. To implement the project, Dong Nai City must recover a land area of 5,000ha with more than 5,000 affected households. Among them, more than 4,300 households are completely cleared and are subject to resettlement arrangement.
Since 2015, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters have had the first articles reflecting the people's desire for the project to be implemented soon. The super project has been planned for many years and households in the project area are also in the mindset of wanting to be relocated soon to give up land for the country's socio-economic development project.
In 2020, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters in the delegation including many other resident reporters also coordinated with Dong Nai City People's Committee to propagate to people in the relocation and site clearance of the Long Thanh airport project. Lao Dong Newspaper reporters directly went to the core area of the Long Thanh airport project to record the atmosphere of people preparing to relocate to give up land to build the airport; met with "village elders" and heard their confidences about the formation of villages and hamlets with vast rubber plantation areas feeding many generations of people.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Liem is one of the "village elders" who have lived in the core area of the Long Thanh airport project since 1975. Mr. Liem said: "When I came here to start a business, the whole area was still a dense forest with many ancient trees that one person could not embrace, and gradually many people came to live and establish villages. However, when the State had a policy to recover land to build an airport, my family all supported it.

In early 2021, when the Long Thanh airport project was officially started and site clearance for thousands of hectares was completed, it created an open, vast area of all basalt red soil. From afar, looking at the rollers and bulldozers that are only small like black dots, traveling kilometers without a single green tree, reporters worked in hot weather, drizzling rain.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan - a resident reporter in Dong Nai - shared: "Outside the construction site, the sun is harsh, the wind is strong, I wear very thick clothes, wrapped a scarf around my face but still burns".
During the reporting process, reporters also followed the working group of Long Thanh district (old) and Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) wading through streams and rubber forests to record the handover of clean land so that contractors could immediately proceed with the construction of ground leveling and drainage packages.
The shape of a modern super station gradually reveals itself
To date, in the middle of the red basalt land, the largest international airport construction site in the country is entering the final sprint stage. The modern, magnificent super terminal is gradually being "drawn" by the hands of thousands of engineers and workers working day and night to put it into commercial operation by the end of 2026 as required by the Government.
Long Thanh International Airport is built on an area of more than 5,000ha in Long Thanh ward, Dong Nai city. The project has a total estimated investment of more than 16 billion USD, divided into 3 phases. In which, phase 1 is more than 5.4 billion USD, with a capacity of 25 million passengers/year and 1.2 million tons of cargo/year. After completing all phases, Long Thanh International Airport will reach a capacity of up to 100 million passengers/year and become the largest airport in our country, with transit function in Southeast Asia, competing with major airports in the world.
