The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction has just sent a document to the Department of Construction of Dong Nai province to coordinate in adjusting the lane division plan on National Highway 51 to synchronize traffic organization, improve safety and reduce congestion on the entire route.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction said that on November 17, 2025, the unit has implemented the adjustment of signs and reorganized traffic lane division on National Highway 51, the section passing through the city.
Two lanes of the median strip for cars. The third lane is for cars and passenger vans with less than 30 seats. The outer lane at the right end is reserved for motorbikes and 2 - 3 wheel vehicles.
At intersections, a soft median strip about 50 m long is installed to separate cars and motorbikes.
In addition, Ho Chi Minh City also installed a signboard R.411 "In which direction should each lane be followed" on three car lanes in the direction of two lanes on the left side for cars to go straight; the third lane for cars to turn left, turn around and turn right.
After two days of application, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction noted that the traffic situation on National Highway 51 has changed significantly, reducing the risk of accidents due to separating heavy vehicles from motorbikes, while increasing the ability to pass. Many people also expressed their agreement and positive reviews on social networks.
To ensure unified traffic organization on the entire route, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction proposed that the Dong Nai Department of Construction study and apply a similar lane division plan on National Highway 51 through the province. The synchronization of traffic organization is expected to help people move more conveniently and safely between the two localities.
