Nha Trang University supports union members and students after floods

Khanh Hoa - More than 3,000 students and 73 staff and workers of Nha Trang University were affected during the flood.

More than 300 students and 57 union members receive direct support

Nha Trang University has just organized a meeting and presented support funds to officials, workers and students who suffered heavy losses due to floods.

Mr. Tran Trong Dao, Chairman of the Truong Trade Union, said that during the recent flood, many union members and workers of the school suffered heavy damage to their houses and property. Most union members in Bac Nha Trang and Tay Nha Trang wards.

At the program, school leaders visited, encouraged and presented support to 57 union members, with a level of 1-5 million VND/person. The total cost is 154 million VND.

According to Mr. Quach Hoai Nam - Principal of Nha Trang University, in the conditions of flooded houses and property damage, teachers, staff and workers of the school have always made efforts to overcome difficulties.

Today's support gifts are to share a small part to help officers and workers overcome the difficulties of this period.

Statistics show that the whole school has more than 3,000 students and 73 civil servants and employees affected by floods.

At the program, 200 students were supported with 500,000 VND/student. The school also provided direct support to 113 students, at a rate of 1 million VND/student.

In addition, one student was supported with 6 million VND and one student was supported with 2 million VND/month by the former student.

The school's leaders said that with the determination to "not let any student stop studying due to natural disasters", all teachers and students quickly joined hands to support each other during the most difficult period.

Many large-scale relief activities are being implemented

According to Mr. Tran Doan Hung, Vice Principal of Nha Trang University, in the face of widespread damage, Nha Trang University has focused all resources on post-flood response and support.

In particular, organize free accommodation for households and students to avoid floods when there are no safe housing.

Coordinate with Nha Trang Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Association to repair more than 1,000 household appliances for free for people and students.

The departments coordinated with the Social Charity Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Buddhist Sangha and the youth volunteer force to organize a field kitchen, providing 87,630 free meals.

Requesting 575 students to join 12 volunteer teams to clean up the environment, support the distribution of relief goods and produce disinfectants for free to people.

Supporting living expenses for students whose relatives are missing in the flood

Phan Thao Hien (from Hoa Hiep ward, Dak Lak province), a 2nd year student at the Faculty of Tourism, could not hold back her tears when receiving a meaningful gift from the school's former students.

During the recent flood, Hien's father went to find a boat that had been swept away and is still missing.

Since Hien went to school, his father has gone to sea more to earn extra money to send Hien 2.5 million VND and food per month. The amount of money Hien spent to pay for the rental of a house was 1.2 million VND remaining to spend.

The family now has only her mother, the economic burden makes it more difficult for Hien to go to school. Sharing with her, a former student of Nha Trang University supported her with 6 months of living expenses, 2 million VND per month.
