Apple reveals the appeal of AI applications through the latest App Store data

Apple said the App Store facilitates $1.4 trillion in transactions in 2025, of which most of the revenue is not subject to any commissions.

Apple has just announced its annual report on the App Store ecosystem ahead of the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) next week.

According to reports, the App Store has created conditions for developers to collect fees and sell goods with a total value of over 1,400 billion USD in 2025, up from the 1,300 billion USD announced a year earlier.

The figure of 1.4 trillion USD reflects all transactions taking place through applications on the App Store platform, including physical goods, digital services and advertising.

Apple believes that this figure shows that the App Store ecosystem brings broad business opportunities for developers, far exceeding revenue from purchase transactions within the application.

Notably, Apple emphasized that about 90% of the total transaction value in 2025 is not subject to any commissions. This means that most of the revenue is generated from activities such as online retail, food delivery, ride-hailing, travel and many other real-world services, where Apple does not charge developers.

According to the report, revenue from physical goods and services accounted for the majority with about 1.1 trillion USD. Meanwhile, revenue from digital goods and services reached 149 billion USD, up from 131 billion USD last year.

This is a group of transactions where Apple usually applies a commission rate of 15% to 30%, depending on the type of service and the size of the business.

In addition, revenue from advertising in applications reached 151 billion USD in 2025, a slight increase compared to the 150 billion USD of the previous year. Although the increase is not large, the advertising sector continues to be an important part of the mobile application ecosystem.

Apple also said that the App Store currently has an average of more than 850 million users per week in 175 countries and territories. Large user scale continues to be the foundation to help developers reach customers and expand business operations globally.

One of the notable highlights in this year's report is the strong development of artificial intelligence applications.

Apple said that 40 of the top 100 apps on the App Store in 2025 integrated AI features aimed at users. This group of apps recorded significantly higher revenue growth rates than the remaining apps in the ranking.

The above information is seen as a sign that AI will continue to be a key theme at WWDC 2026. Many sources say that Apple is preparing to announce plans to expand AI integration capabilities on the operating system, while improving the Siri assistant and possibly allowing AI agents to operate deeper into the App Store ecosystem.

Regionally, Apple said revenue and sales through the App Store in China have more than doubled in the past six years. In the US and Europe, the growth is even stronger as revenue has more than tripled.

Most of the growth momentum continues to come from physical services and products such as e-commerce, grocery delivery, ride-hailing and tourism.
