On November 9, Quang Tri province held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Huong Phung Primary and Secondary Boarding School Project in Huong Phung commune.
The project is implemented according to the policy of the Government and the Ministry of Education and Training, investing in completely new construction on an area of 10 hectares, with a total investment of 360 billion VND. The project has a scale of 40 classes, including 22 primary and 18 secondary schools, meeting the learning needs of about 1,500 students, and at the same time, it is oriented to expand to 55 classes, serving more than 2,100 students in the later stages.
The main items include classrooms, student dormitories, teachers' public housing, dining - kitchen area, multi-purpose house, sports field, landscape and synchronous technical infrastructure. When completed, the school will create better learning and living conditions for students in border areas, contributing to improving education, developing human resources for ethnic minorities, and at the same time strengthening the belief and aspiration of mountainous youth.
The Quang Tri Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board said that the project is implemented according to the special mechanism of a special public investment project, requiring progress and high quality, ensuring modern standards, in accordance with regional conditions. The construction units committed to completing before August 30, 2026, in time to put into use in the 2026-2027 school year.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Tran Duc Thang - Minister of Agriculture and Environment emphasized that the construction of inter-level boarding schools is a major policy, with profound humanitarian significance, demonstrating the special attention of the Party, the General Secretary, the Government and the Prime Minister to the children of ethnic minorities, mountainous areas, remote areas, and border areas in difficult areas. The government always considers education as the "root of development", the most sustainable way to reduce poverty, preserve borders and create a future. Each school built in the border area not only has the meaning of teaching letters and vocational skills but also is a pile of knowledge, of faith and of love for the Fatherland.
Mr. Tran Duc Thang suggested that Quang Tri province and related units closely coordinate, creating favorable conditions for site clearance, ensuring safety and construction progress.
Mr. Tran Phong - Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province said that in the past time, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province has directed agencies, units and authorities of border communes to urgently survey, prepare a list, and propose investment in 16 projects in the 2025 - 2026 period, with a total investment of about 3,338 billion VND, of which 4 projects will start construction in 2025. The Huong Phung Primary and Secondary Boarding School project is one of the projects selected by the province to start construction today, along with many other localities across the country.
Mr. Tran Phong pledged to focus on directing the project implementation with the motto "urgent, drastic, solid, effective", determined to complete before August 30, 2026. When completed, the project will fully meet technical standards, scale, school area, facilities for comprehensive learning, living and training for students; become a symbol of knowledge, belief and future on the border of the Fatherland.
Previously, on November 2, Quang Tri province started construction of 3 inter-level boarding schools in Dakrong, Thuong Trach and Dan Hoa communes. The groundbreaking of the construction of Huong Phung Primary and Secondary Boarding School is part of the policy of building 248 inter-level boarding schools in border communes according to the Conclusion of the Politburo.
