The quarter-finals will take place from September 3 with the first matches being the Netherlands against Japan and Italy against Poland. On September 4, the US team will meet Türkiye while the Brazilian team will meet France.
This year's quarter-finals have 3 teams including Italy, Japan and the US that have won the world championship in previous tournaments.
The matches of the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals of the 2025 World Championship will be held in Bangkok (Thailand). This is also the venue for the 33rd SEA Games indoor volleyball tournament in December this year.
Experts assess that the 8 teams participating in the quarter-finals all have the same chance to win. The Japanese team is the only representative of Asia, but is considered capable of going far because of its strong squad with experience in major tournaments.
This year is the first time the World Championship has been held in a country in Southeast Asia. Previously, the 2025 U21 Women's World Championship was also held in Southeast Asia (in Indonesia).
The total prize money for the 2025 World Championship is 2.2 million USD. The champion team alone received a reward of 1 million USD from the organizing committee, while the runner-up team received a prize of 500,000 USD.
Players who achieve individual titles will also receive bonuses. The best athlete will receive $100,000 while other individual awards will be rewarded with $100,000.
